Think I found my answer. Did they actually do this on the Star?

I tried this last winter on our cruise through the canal. When I went up to the library to see when they would be discussing the book that was on their website, I was told that they would be reviewing a different book instead. I had read the one that I thought was going to be the book ahead of time as I have eye troubles and it takes me a long time to read a book. So, I lost out. Hope you can read faster than I can!

enjoy your cruise!

It’s the last day; boo hoo. I hate for any cruise to end, though this time we have another to look forward to 8 days from now. It’s very cloudy again, but the sun has been playing tricks, so can’t know what the rest of the will be like.

If you recall, yesterday morning I mentioned that the movie Intouchables would be shown tonight, though there was a conflict in the Patter with the orchestra. Well, over 100 people were sitting in Vista waiting for the 7:30 movie, and no sign of a screen. At 7:25 I decided to call the purser’s desk. “I’’m very sorry

madam said the voice; the movie has been cancelled.” There will be dancing at 8:00.” I asked her to make an announcement; that there were so many people in the lounge waiting for the movie. Said she; “I cannot do that. There will be dancing at 8:00 o’clock.” Yes, I made the announcement. When everyone but six of us had exited, a rep from the purser’s office arrived, but I told him I wanted a paycheck for doing their job. Everyone laughed. Anyhow, walking past Explorer’s the Where in the World game was starting, so we joined a team. And won. Two water bottles which we gave away immediately to people who live in San Francisco.

So what’s happening today other than packing? Well, in the morning you can visit the souvenir station (???) in the Piazza on deck 5, see “Brave” on MUTS, or attend a lecture; “Ahoy Matie.” (This is not a typo; that’s the way it’s being spelled)

Afternoon has a Navigation at Sea talk in Vista, Crazy, Stupid Love in the theater, The Devil wears Prada on MUTS and the Passenger Talent Show at 4:30 in the theater.

In the evening we have comic Kevin Hughes doing two shows in the theater, Amazing Spider Man on MUTS and the movie (maybe lol)

The Magic of Belle Isle in Vista. At 9:30 there will be the International Crew Show in the theater.

Ed: We have RED 1, the first scheduled colored departure, and that’s a meeting time of 8:30. Look for us.

Billco: If you look back, I did post the name of the book club book. It was a James Patterson book which I had already read.

I still have enough minutes to get our boarding passes and to check back in here. So see you later.

Here I am again, just remembering there was something I wanted to tell you, but kept forgetting. I have no idea whether or not this is already out there, but, about 10 days ago while speaking to one of the officers, he told me that Princess is instituting a new directive at the beginning of the year. Effective January 2013, corporate has stated that mandatory retirement will be at age 63 for all personnel, no matter what category, on all Princess vessels. This sounds like a step backward to “don’t trust anyone over 30.” I wonder which 25 year old airhead thought this one up. With this in place, we are shortly going to lose some wonderful captains and other upper echelon.

This is sad and Pia you're right. We'll all be loosing some wonderful Princess "friends" that we've know for many years.

Had a great time last night getting to know Gloria & Lew, we talked, talked and talked some more!! Your name NEVER cam up NOT :D:D:D

Boarding Caribbean Princess this morning for 3 weeks, yeah!

Joyce, have a fabulous cruise. See you, Pia and Tina, among others, on the NYE cruise! :p

As always, Pia, thanks for taking us all along. I thoroughly enjoyed reliving our Hawaiian cruise, and can't wait to relive Panama next week!!! ;)

You're the only one I know that we can say "sorry your cruise is over" and "bon voyage" at the same time!!! :D

I've been following both Pia and Vickie as they enjoy this cruise. Reading Vickie's latest blog entry has me very curious. She stated that people were put off the ship in both Hawaii and Ensenada for breaking clearly defined Princess rules. I can't help but wonder what someone would have to do in order to get kicked off the ship! She didn't elaborate on the infractions but I wonder if it was a violation of the newer smoking rules. A snippet of text from her blog is below:

I will add that someone was put off the boat yesterday for not following the rules. I also can confirm a couple was put off in one of the Hawaiian ports too for also breaking the rules. No reason to state what rule they broke but it is clearly laid out and warranted and I am proud of Princess for following procedure.

I guess since you asked the question, there was a reason to state what rule they broke, but I doubt they were put off for smoking. Caught breaking smoking policy results in a $250 fine. More likely something more serious like drugs or assaultive behavior. On the other hand, it could be just about anything that breaks a rule as it clearly states in the passage contract that Princess can disembark you for just about any reason. Could be for violating quarantine.

Here is an excerpt from the smoking policy:

http://www.princess.com/learn/faq_answer/onboard/experience.jsp

"Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the passenger’s stateroom account."

D'Oh! I remember reading that now. My son smokes. (Bleh...) You may well be correct about the offending behavior. I doubt Princess tolerates smoking pot onboard and a lot of people seem to think they have a "right" to do that anywhere they please.

Thanks for pointing out my error. Unlike some folks I don't take offense when it's pointed out to me that I'm not thinking clearly. ;)

Didn't mean to infer I was correcting an error. Just offering my thoughts. Look forward to meeting you in a couple of weeks. I hope they weren't put off for violating the dress code on Formal night.

you guys are too funny

yeah it was for

- hogging a lounge chair

- wearing shorts in the dining room

- cutting in line at the coffee bar

- smoking during non smoking night in the casino

OF COURSE I AM JUST KIDDING WITH THE ABOVE

I know the reason they were both put off but I don't want to disclose as it really isn't important. Lets just say it is a clear violation, one that is a violation in most countries, including the US, one we all should know about and they were warned too.

Princess handled it very well and professionally.

After researching some of your posts you seem like a very knowledgeable cruiser especially Princess. For those that don't think Princess enforces their policies ie deck chairs and dining room attire don't you think it would be beneficial to state why these people were put off. This may restore faith in folks that think they can get away with anything and that the cruise line does put people off the ship for certain violations.

Hi guys; last time to check in. Unless of course I have leftover minutes and time tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, if you recall I listed something called souvenir station this morning with question marks. Well, there are still question marks because I have no clue what was supposed to be. Right. What was supposed to be, wasn’t.

Getting boarding passes was challenging, since everything went well until time to print. It didn’t. Lots of paper, lots of unhappy people and mostly no printing. Some got theirs; others didn’t. I didn’t. Of course there was nobody at the desk at that time to remedy the situation. I seethed for about 15 minutes and then decided to go back and try again, using a computer which I knew had expelled passes for someone else. This time it worked.

We went to the passenger talent show and there was a full house. Some awful stuff, but mostly good and enjoyable. We also saw Kevin Hughes again a short time ago and he was terrific. We are now back in the cabin getting ready to put our cases out. It’s still early, there’s nothing worthwhile on TV, but we do have our books.

This has been a very active LIVE and I want to thank you all for your participation. Having over 30,000 hits on one of my threads makes me feel like I may have fulfilled a need other than my own. :p See you on the next one.

P.S. I have no info about those who were asked to leave the ship Never heard about it until now.

We waved at you as you sailed into Ensenada yesterday afternoon and we were preparing to sail out on the Sapphire. Hope you enjoyed your cruise as much as we enjoye ours.

In 46 days, we do a round-trip LA/Hawaii cruise on the Golden.

Good Morning from SF. If I have some minutes you know I need to use them. Nippy morning here, but no wind. Already had breakfast and back in cabin to finish last minute wheelie packing.

Jackie, not going home. Going toVegas, then to LA and then to the Coral. Hope some of you will join me for the 14 day Panama Canal cruise (which we have done over and over and over) on October 28th. Thanks again for cruising along with us.

Toodleoo
