cruisecluestoo Posted November 1, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted November 1, 2012 We just got back this morning . We had a wonderful time . As always it is wonderful going out of Baltimore . Everything goes so quickly and very organized. We were given the option to stay on board or leave and rebook another cruise in the next year. We chose to stay and were happy we did .The captain did a wonderful job keeping us confortable . We anchored in the bay . Our ship didn't move at all .It was unbelievable. You would not have known we were in a storm. No one even got sick .I think we were better being there then at home. Great captain The ship is showing some wear but was kept very clean. We were lucky there wasn't a full ship so we had plenty of room . We didn't have to wait in line for anything and there was always a seat for all of the shows and games . I am sure it would have been very crowded if everyone would have stayed on board. Now for the food . What a pleasant surprise. The food was wonderful . We had the new menu and everything we had was very good . We had ten in our group and not one complaint .We were on the Explorer in Jan.and the food was just terrible so we weren't expecting much. Surprise. Lots of fun in the dining room very entertaining. They did a good job having a lot of activity to keep us busy.A lot more sea days that they were not planning on.I didn't mind the sea days but I really did want to see Bermuda. Maybe next year. The crew were very friendly and extra helpful. Great service. They seemed to be going out of their way to please . Maybe because they didn't have as much stress with less people Great Halloween party .Decoration were very festive. I was really surprised to see how many people were wearing costume . They all looked really great .It was a great party but it would have been really over crowded if everyone would have stayed on board Fun for all . I will try to post some pictures . Well we had a great time and sorry to be back home so soon . The only bad part of the cruise was no sun but that wasn't the fault of the cruise line. Can't wait to go back and see the change after being refurbish Be glad to answer any questions you may have

velmasue Posted November 2, 2012 #13 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I live on Virginia's Eastern Shore--it was interesting to have a cruise ship anchored just off shore for a few days... Here's a link to a picture: http://www.usatoday.com/story/cruiselog/2012/10/29/hurricane-sandy-cruise-cancellations/1665483/ Glad you enjoyed your vacation. And, good excuse to book your Bermuda vacation for next year.

sunsetbeachgal Posted November 2, 2012 #15 Share Posted November 2, 2012 We were on the Enchantment in early sept...loved her...so many windows and such a great open pool deck...who was captain and CD?
ksuds Posted November 2, 2012 #16 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I presume since you were only in the bay, the ship never went to international waters where the casinos and shops could open? That had to hurt their pocket book. But it would save mine:)

That had to hurt their pocket book. But it would save mine:) When I have been on enchantment before the casino opened after it went under the bridge. It did not have to wait to get to international waters. the same is true in reverse coming home. We usually crossed the Bay Bridge near Norfok around 9pm. The casino/shops did not close. dixieva Posted November 2, 2012 #18 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I read a post from someone who was on the ship anchored in the Bay that the liquor store wasn't open and you couldn't buy duty free tobacco products but everything else was open. It did not have to wait to get to international waters. the same is true in reverse coming home. We usually crossed the Bay Bridge near Norfok around 9pm. The casino/shops did not close. The same thing was true when we sailed in August. I read somewhere on the boards that the casino can open after the ship passes the Key Bridge. We left the pier at 4pm and passed the Key Bridge at 5pm. I just looked at the Compass and sure enough...the Casino and shops opened at 5pm the day of sailing. cruisecluestoo Posted November 2, 2012 Author #20 Share Posted November 2, 2012 sunsetbeachgal I wish we could have enjoyed the pool. It didn't look to inviting in the rain. The inside pool was nice . The captain was Anders Ingebrigtsen. He did a wonderful job keeping us safe and confortable . He sure was under a lot of stress. The cruise director was Paul Rutter . He is very friendly and entertaining. Sorry to say he was leaving the Enchantment after this cruise . Don't know where he was going next . Ksuds Everything was open except the liquor store . Kesstral Posted November 2, 2012 #21 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Wow, I wonder if not visiting a foreign port will impacts the company on that sailing? re: Cabotage law
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted November 4, 2012 #22 Share Posted November 4, 2012 They returned to the same port--so, no problem. Cruise lines do cruises to nowhere sometimes. It is only when they go from one US city to another US city.

It is only when they go from one US city to another US city.True for cruise to nowhere [ie as long as they do not stop in any other port]. If stop(s) are made at least one stop must be in a foreign port. As an example Baltimore-Charleston-Baltimore would not be allowed under PSVA even though it is a closed loop cruise. To do a one way cruise between two US ports, then at least one stop must be in a distant foreign port. Thom
