Forgot to cash in chips on Oasis

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what to do with several $25 Oasis Casino chips that were taken home by mistake?

Sounds like you need to return them in person... you should book another Oasis cruise! :D:D

Or you could try the Oasis roll call boards and see if someone there would be willing to redeem them for you.

icon14.gif Had $220.00 in casino chips and RCI sent me a check

I had the same situation as you and it was resolved - no problem. Don't negotiate anything - RCI will send you a check for the full amount. Just contact customer service, explain the problem and then send the chips in as directed. A check will be sent to you within a few weeks.

Wow..that's good to know! We once forgot to cash in some chips in Nevada....and we were about 1 hour from the casino when we discovered it! It was a sizable amount, so hubby had to drive back the next day to get the money we'd won! How do you forget, you ask??? Gamble, drink, and go to a concert.....so much fun at the concert that you forget you've got chips!!!!

Thanks for the information I was worried that they might expire after the cruise.

My understanding is that the chips actually never expire. Worn chips will be replaced but the design of the chips is constant over time.

Actually casinos ( even a cruise ship casinos ) that experience or suspects that chips have been stolen. The will chips will be changed out immediately so the stolen chips can't be used. This was just on the news about a week or so ago due to a left at a Las Vegas casino.

I thought I was the only one....I still have a $100 chip from an NCL cruise in 2009.

I realized it the morning of disembarkation. Stood in line at the customer service desk for over an hour. When I arrived to the agent, she told me there was not a way to cash it in, even though I was still on the ship and hadn't left yet. She told me it could only be redeemed in the casino and since they were closed, I would have to come back on another cruise! I was not happy. Seemed like an expensive "souvenir".

I don't know why I had not thought of calling and asking about mailing it to them for a check! I guess I figured it was something they had never encountered before (I mean, who forgets to cash in a $100 chip, I thought). I'll give them a call this week. I'm not anti NCL by any means, but RCI is my first choice so I can't imagine being back with them for at least a few years. I scowl at myself whenever I open that drawer of my jewelry box and see that chip.

Wildly inaccurate.

To summarize, if high value chips are stolen, a casino usually has a backup second design on hand to make stolen chips standout.

Considering all of the things that have changed in the cruising world since 2004, I would be highly surprised if you could still do this.

Of course, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Great to know about the chips.

Have a question about receipts that payout for slot machines.

I did the same thing, left without cashing in my voucher

Can I still cash it in? Does it have to be on same ship? Can I also mail it in?

Thanks all.

Unfortunately, no. The paper slips have to be redeemed while onboard that cruise. Once you leave the ship, they're worthless.

On several occasions I've come home from a cruise and found chips in the pocket of something I wore one night. I've never had an issue using them in the future on any other ship in the same cruise line, i.e. used leftover chips from the Mariner on a subsequent cruise on the Jewel, for example. Only once did a dealer question it but a pit boss immediately said it fine to take them.

Not sure where you are in Florida but were leaving Tampa area Friday AM for Oasis on Saturday. I can swap them out for you or even buy them from you if you'd like.

  • 1 year later...

I found a $100 chip from the Enchantment in my luggage that I forgot to redeem before we got off the ship.

I emailed customer service and they told me the I could NOT send it in for a check.

And that IF I wanted to redeem then ***** a future cruise, that I would have to ASK PERMISSION to see if it was POSSIBLE to redeem it.

Not very good customer service, in my mind.

I have never had this problem on RCCL, as I hadn't sailed with them very often, but I hope they won't give anyone a hard time. I recently came back from my Jewel OTS cruise with chips that I had forgotten about. I wasn't overly concerned, as we're sailing on the Explorer OTS in January. Now I'm wondering if it will be a problem.

I have done this on other cruise lines (Carnival and NCL) and it's never been a problem to use them on a different ship.

You should have no problem cashing in your chips on Explorer in January.

Yes, they will have a problem. The Oasis chips will not be accepted on Explorer.

They are not Oasis chips, but from the Jewel OTS. Will this still be a problem? I have NEVER had a problem using chips from one ship to another, so long as it was the same cruise line. Is RCCL that different?

Mastodon - We have a roll call thread going for this cruise. Why not come stop by and say hi!

As for the chips...I'm brining one I forgot to cash in a $25 chip from my Liberty cruise in '08. I just found it in a drawer in the bathroom. I plan on bringing it with me on my Oasis cruise. I don't anticipate it being an issue but we'll see.
