smtcan Posted January 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2013 It is many years since we last cruised with Princess and now I am thinking about packing for our upcoming South America cruise on Star. Can someone tell me what is supplied in the way of toiletries? Is there shampoo and conditioner and shower gel? What is the quality like? Does Princess supply robes? I find the shampoo and conditioner on Celebrity perfectly adequate for my short hair, but I am disappointed that they do not provide gel unless you are in Concierge class or above. We hope to keep the weight of our suitcases to a minimum, so we can easily manage them ourselves on the land portion of our trip. Thanks for your help Sheila
Pam in CA Posted January 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2013 The toiletries in inside cabins are exactly the same as any other cabin except for full suites: shampoo, conditioner and lotion. No bath gel.
Alessandrina Posted January 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2013 You may request robes of your cabin steward. Cheers.
Rare TracieABD Posted January 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2013 I thought they offered body wash in the mini suites. It smells of eucalyptus. I like it, but others do not.
Alessandrina Posted January 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Of course you'll get bars of soap too.
Pam in CA Posted January 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Of course you'll get bars of soap too. You're right. Forgot about that. :) I was on the Sea Princess years ago and all they had was a body gel, no bars of soap, no shampoo or conditioner. I asked everywhere on the ship. Nothing. I had to go out and buy some.
Astro Flyer Posted January 4, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2013 I thought they offered body wash in the mini suites. It smells of eucalyptus. I like it, but others do not. We had body gel recently in our balcony cabin which is part of the 'upgraded' toiletries for Captain's Circle Elite members. Upgraded Bathroom Amenities Regardless of your stateroom type, your stateroom bathroom will be stocked with the upgraded amenities normally reserved only for Suite guests. BettyCruiser Posted January 4, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 4, 2013 I received bath gel in my inside cabin on the Ruby in January 2012, but did not on the CB last month, only shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bar soap.
madjohn Posted January 4, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Its times like this that it is great to be a guy who is basically bald, all I need is a bar of soap:D
lcmslady Posted January 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Someone was reading my mind :p Finalizing my packing list and I was wondering if it was soap or body wash. Now I know to pack some body wash
EdmPair Posted January 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Went for really short hair just before last trip. At that point, shampoo and body wash are all about the same to me. Not a fan of bar soap as its very ineffective.
hansi Posted January 4, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 4, 2013 The toiletries in inside cabins are exactly the same as any other cabin except for full suites: shampoo, conditioner and lotion. No bath gel. But Stewart or Stewartess will get shower/bath gel for you if you ask.
smtcan Posted January 4, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Thanks for the prompt responses. I will take my shower gel and be sure to ask for a robe. Sheila
Cruisin' Chick Posted January 4, 2013 #14 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Somehow I was given some special status on the cruise I just finished (not that I'm complaining...) and found some items that we didn't get on our previous cruises on Princess. Is this the package that elite/suite passengers get?
dmwnc1959 Posted January 4, 2013 #15 Share Posted January 4, 2013 This is the sink area of my inside cabin on Ruby Princess last month. You can see the small toiletry bottles and round bar of soap on top of the washcloths. There were two bars of soap but the other I had already used. Cruisin' Chick Posted January 5, 2013 #17 Share Posted January 5, 2013 Yes Cool. Several cruises to go to get that basket again (since I doubt if we'll ever book a suite).
pegbert Posted January 6, 2013 #18 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Regarding the bathrobes: you have to requeset them; we got the "waffle-weave" cotton ones - perfect for me (5'4", 113lbs), completely useless to DH (6'2", 190lbs). I'm guessing they are "One size fits all smallish people" :)
triviaplayer7425 Posted January 6, 2013 #19 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Yes, you were lucky to get the Elite goodies. Anything I don't use I bring back and save it for the homeless shelters, as they like the individual size shampoo, conditioner, etc.
vickie_bernie Posted January 6, 2013 #20 Share Posted January 6, 2013 you can ask for bath gel from you steward if you prefer it.
