ricardin Posted January 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2013 This may not seem like a point worth worrying about, although travelling from London, I would like to bring as few unnecessary things as possible. Just want to know whether towels to use for sunbathing and the pool are provided onboard, or should we pack our own beach towels? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance They are provided both on & off the ship....just remember you MUST return them daily or else face a $25 fee for each towel not returned ( they use your seapass card).... Big Al You don't have to swipe your sea pass every day. You swipe it when checking out your first towels and can trade in those towels all week for clean ones without needing to swipe. Just make sure you return the same number of towels on the last day as originally checked out and have them swipe your sea pass. If you're in a grand suite or above (gold card), you only need to show them your pass. They don't need to swipe it. It's a suite perk. Have a great cruise. Sumisid Posted January 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2013 I asked for two towls on the first day, they swiped my card and that was it for the rest of the cruise until the last day. Every evening I traded the two used towels for two fresh ones and used them the next day. Very easy and convenient. Brought both towels back on the last evening before departure-day, swiped my card again, no problem at all.

Big Al why do you return them daily? Why not just exchange for dry ones?

cb at sea Posted January 16, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2013 As long as you have the original amount given to you at the end of the cruise, you're good....
cruisinfanatic Posted January 16, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2013 If nothing else, you avoid having to lug them to/from your cabin. so you'd rather stand in an extra line every day? OK I've never found it an inconvenience to "lug" my towel to my cabin each day. If you're going off the ship the next beach day you'll need it. louv2000 Posted January 16, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2013 On FOS in December, they swiped my gold suite card too.
Big_G Posted January 16, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 16, 2013 On FOS in December, they swiped my gold suite card too. That's interesting. Originally they supplied the suites with pool towels so it wasn't necessary to check them out unless you wanted extra. When they stopped putting them in the suites, they allowed you to take as many towels has you wanted by just showing the attendant your gold suite card. At least that was still the case on our December Navigator.
big al Posted January 16, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 16, 2013 why do you return them daily? Why not just exchange for dry ones? When you are FINISHED for the day, you are suppose to return the towels, where they swipe your card noting that the towels have been returned from passenger XXX..of course you can get dry towels, but if you don't return the towels by day's end, you can be charged $25 ( at least on the Liberty 2 mos ago you would)..... This is not the way it was handled on any of the ships we have been on. Towels only need to be returned by the end of the cruise, not the end of each day. akcruz Posted January 16, 2013 #16 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Are you allowed to take the towels on your excursions? Absolutely, just remember to bring them back with you. If you have an early excursion get them the night before.

That was a very nice perk. Maybe each ship has its own rules on this suite perk

That's not the way it works. Not the way it has ever worked. Sure you can stand there and have your card swiped over and over (increasing the chance of a mistake over the course of the cruise) every day, but you are never charged for an unreturned towel until the cruise is over. You check them out the first day with your card and check them back at the end. Other times when you need a fresh one, you just exchange. When we were in a suite on the Voyager, our cabin steward put pool towels in our cabin each day. That was a very nice perk. Maybe each ship has its own rules on this suite perk First time on Oasis they were in our room on the first day. Next time we had to swipe them out on the pool deck. First time on Allure we had to swipe them out on the pool deck and last week they were waiting in our room. It does seem to vary. The last night we always double checked that no towels were outstanding on our cards just to be safe. Andrew
