We have just booked our Celebrity Cruise on the Sostice leaving from Honollulu - we will be arriving 2 days ahead of the cruise - now the search is on for a hotel - any recommendations? I have posted on the Hawaii board but no one has responded. Any info would be greatly appreciated - arriving Apr 2014. Thanks;)

Been many years now, but enjoyed staying at the Outriggers--its a chain and there is (or was) quite a few of them in the Waikiki area. Usually stayed at the one just a very short distance to Waikiki beach. And there was the Outrigger reef right on the beach(great reviews on tripadvisor--ensure u take a look there)! Always treated very well and always seemed to have some great drink specials on by the pool!! During my Canadian Navy days--Honolulu was our 2nd home, lol Ensure you take in the Memorials, very eye opening

Waikiki has a practically unlimited choice of hotels in every price range. If you have any loyalty points or rewards all the major hotel chains are represented. Outrigger reef on the beach is a good choice but the beach there is not the best you will need to walk down toward the center of Waikiki beach for a better experience.

The Hawaiian village is a resort onto itself but is someone what isoloated. Central Waikiki hotels include the Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, et al. are all represented along the beach front. You will need to cross the main blvd for all the hotels except the Outrigger noted above. There are two Outriggers so if you're interested in that one be aware when you book.

I'd suggest going to Tripadvisor for more info on Honolulu/Waikiki and all of Oahu for that matter. There is so much more to Oahu than just Waikiki.

Much depends on your budget. Hands down the best hotel on Waikiki Beach is the Halekulani. This would be the "money is no object" choice. Since, for most of us, money remains an object, across the street from the Halekulani is her sister property, the Waikiki Parc. It's half the price and gives guests access to the Halekulani facilities.

We stayed at the Waikiki Beach Marriott resort after our cruise in September. We bid on Priceline, we selected the Waikiki beach area, then chose Resort and bid $100 and got it. Then asked when we checked in for any upgrades and got moved to an ocean front room. Not bad for a hundred bucks. :)

We just returned from NCL cruise and stayed at Hilton Hawaiian Village pre-cruise. We got a great deal through NCL and transportation to the ship. Check with your cruise line for deals. We thought the Hilton was on the best stretch of Waikiki beach. There was also a lot going on at the resort, and many restaurants and food choices if you didn't want to go far. That was a must for us, coming from the east coast. There was also a car ental place on site, as well as shopping. You didn't even have to leave thr resort if you didn't want to!

We are new to cruising but very experienced in Hawaii Islands. Everyones sugestions are reasonable but Hilton Hawaiian Vllage hold conventions. We were there once for 8 days and Panda express took the hotel.Bon Jovi kerioke until midnight. Won't be back. My choice would be the Moana surf Rider central to Waikiki beach and shopping with shuttles. Classic Hotel with good rooms quiet and a nice holet bar in the back. 1st hotel on Waikiki beach.

We are planning 4-5 nights pre-cruise [Hawaii & Tahiti] at a Waikiki hotel and have the list of possible hotels down to the Hyatt or Outrigger. Anyone have prior experience with Outrigger? There seems to be more than one so we're not sure which would be the better option.

Once we arrive in Hawaii, we'll transfer to the hotel, sleep off the jet lag, and the following day get a rental car for the remainder of our stay. I know parking is expensive, but we'll be sharing the cost with another couple, so it softens the financial impact.

Plimouth? Family landed there some 13 generations ago. Very small boat, few amenities icon12.gif
