blonde1981 Posted June 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2013 I saw in the Italy section that there are websites to keep up with upcoming strikes in Italy. Is there anything similar for the Baltic countries? Is this something to worry about?

Rare TLCOhio Posted June 3, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2013 I saw in the Italy section that there are websites to keep up with upcoming strikes in Italy. Is there anything similar for the Baltic countries? Is this something to worry about? YES! Not as much to worry with on those pesky strikes in the Baltics. For Italy, Greece, France, etc., there you can have some issues and challenges. THANKS! Enjoy! But name me a national carrier where the employees hasn't been on strike.
blonde1981 Posted June 4, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted June 4, 2013 Thanks! My google search didn't return many notices on strikes in the Baltics so I'm glad to hear they are rare.

Ultima Thule Posted June 19, 2013 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) well It seems just because I said that there are no strikes, the bus drivers in Stockholm have gone on a strike. From Frihamnen to Vasa either walk or go with Sjovägen, I wonder if bus #1 is available from Frihamnen to downtown ? In that case it should be bus #1 to Hötorget + T-bana green line Hötorget - Gamla Stan. http://sl.se/scripts/kartor-geografiska/7510.Innerstan.2013.html How about the tram (#7) to reach Vasa & Skansen? Bus #1 from Frihamnen to Hötorget, go to Sergels torg (3 blocks south) , take the tram? Edited June 19, 2013 by Ultima Thule
isutru Posted June 19, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 19, 2013 Would this affect the T-Bahn? I suspect not but would love to hear from those who really do know. What about the recent "riots" in Stockholm?

Bus #1 from Frihamnen to Hötorget, go to Sergels torg (3 blocks south) , take the tram? As far as I know, Bus #1 is not affected at the moment and it seems that the Trams are not affected either. Only those lines I listed in my previous post are affected at this time. Would this affect the T-Bahn? I suspect not but would love to hear from those who really do know. What about the recent "riots" in Stockholm? Yes as I said in my previous post T-banan Red line is affected and all traffic on the Red Line will be cancelled from 03.00am tomorrow if the strike is not over by then. NeoVega Posted June 19, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 19, 2013 well It seems just because I said that there are no strikes, the bus drivers in Stockholm have gone on a strike. Thanks for jinxing it for us! I was counting on using Bus 76 in 10 days.I will be in Stockholm with a Stockholm card. I hope the whole thing blows over by then. NeoVega Posted June 20, 2013 #14 Share Posted June 20, 2013 I don't see any signs of the Strike blowing over and am very concerned. I purchased voucher for the STOCKHOLM card. It will not be offering the same value if it does not cover bus transportation. Plus if the T banna (subway) doesn't help us get to our locations, we will be paying alot of extra money on Taxis. Does anyone have any good news about the strike getting resolved?
isutru Posted June 22, 2013 #15 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Will the ferry to Drottningholm be affected by the bus/subway strike? We are docking at Frihamnen on Sat July 6 on the Eurodam. What advice can you give us regarding transportation options to central Stockholm from the port if the strike continues until then?
chris58 Posted June 23, 2013 #16 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Hello! I would check the subway/bus site http://www.sl.se and check out.(They have infos in english) I believe that you will walk to the subway station Gardet. About 20 to 25 min walk. And the boats to Drottningholm are not taken out for strikes. Have a good time here. Chris58
isutru Posted June 23, 2013 #17 Share Posted June 23, 2013 My understanding is that the T-bana is shut down, too. Is that correct?
chris58 Posted June 23, 2013 #18 Share Posted June 23, 2013 I travelled yesterday and today with the underground. They earlier talked about even the underground, but it has only been the buses in the city./Chris58

Also from Frihamnen check times for blue bus #1 it stops at the central station from where its a short walk to the boats to Drottningholm.

isutru Posted June 23, 2013 #23 Share Posted June 23, 2013 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1855992 perhaps we could stick to one thread of discussion? Ouch. My first reprimand on Cruise Critic. On June 3 you wrote "Strikes are quite rare and its nothing you have to worry about." Then a strike occurred. Then on June 19 you wrote "T-banan Red line is affected and all traffic on the Red Line will be cancelled from 03.00am tomorrow if the strike is not over by then." Then I read that the T-bana is not affected. Humbly, I am just looking for updated information.
JD in MD Posted June 23, 2013 #24 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Does the strike affect the Hop On Hop Off buses and boats?
NeoVega Posted June 25, 2013 #25 Share Posted June 25, 2013 If no progress is made before Saturday, 29 June 1400, additional municipal closed go on strike. Then buses in Stockholm paralyzed and airport buses in Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg to stop driving. This is a translated version of a news story about the bus strike. http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/samtalen-avbrots---utan-nagra-framsteg/ THe HOHO buses were suggested to me as an alternative to bus 76 by the Stockholm Card people, so they are not affected by the strike. But the bus line I identified as getting me around the best, Bus 76 is shut down by the strike. There is already a high demand for Taxis, and it may get worse. I will likely be taking a taxi from Gamla Stan Sunday to get to the boat. I am not sure if they mean the "Flugbusse" when they say airport busses.
