The Famous Smokestacks are to be Dismantled!

For those of us who have sailed from Ft. Lauderdale those iconic everglade "smokestacks" have been a welcomed sight for many years, but I just got word that on July 16th they will be demolished.

 

What a bummer, I have always enjoyed seeing them when sailing from the port.

They will not be missed.

FPL must be doing that throughout the state. They just reopened the Frontenac plant with gas turbine generators after tearing down the old. They used to have two of the kind like in the picture. They burned bunker fuel and the residents around there said that they always had oily soot on everything from the exhaust.
