The ships are elegant, with lots to do, cabins are really nice, food is fantastic, with many options to eat in different places, itineraries are good, staff are great, we just love all of it really!

I was just going to answer 'yes, yes and yes' lol

Buy you've put it sooooo much better :D

The whole atmosphere on board suits us. It is quieter and more relaxing than othe rlines we have travelled with. There is a good choice of dining options, and we love Cafe Al Bacio and The Sunset Bar.

Best of all though, are the bathrooms!

We have tried other lines. Whist they have all been good holidays, Celebrity has been better.

We cruise with Celebrity for the food, cabins, quiet, people, staff and value for our money.

Celebrity is a good fit overall. It combines the adventure of visiting new places with the comfort if a familiar ship environment- staff that know us, food options that we enjoy, decent frequent cruiser benefits, and good pricing. We seem to always be able to find a trip that averages about $100-$125 per day, and this is quite a bit less than the comparable fares on Cunard. The non-inclusive stuff allows us to tailor the cruise to our needs without paying for things that we don't want-

I've spoken with others who feel exactly this way about HAL or Princess, so I think there must be some basic connection that I've made with this product that gives it the edge over other lines...at the moment.

I do imagine that, other than TA's, itineraries will become more important as we visit ports further afield, and also that land vacations will be more prevalent in early retirement, as we'll want to do more in-depth travel.

It will be interesting to see if I still feel like Celebrity is the right fit in 25 years when I will likely turn back to less adventurous travel...or not. My mother, at 84, just got back from safari in Africa! (Glad to have inherited her wanderlust!:D)

What are some of the reasons why you cruise with X? Is it because of the service/dining/on board experience? Please elaborate.

As detailed below on my live/blog from June 2011 on the Celebrity Solstice, there are a combination of different factors. It is not just one factor. We had previously done our first three cruises with luxury lines Seabourn, Crystal and Silversea. The Solstice worked for well for us and we are looking forward to our first “down under” visit, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Celebrity Solstice sailing, departing Sydney, going from Australia to Auckland/NZ doing 14 days on this ship we loved in the Med in June 2011. We have a nice and super active roll call going at:

The luxury lines are generally smaller in size and a little more "personal" in service, etc. AND, higher in price!! BUT, with these Solstice-style ships you get a larger ship with more options, variety, etc. Two key factors for us with Celebrity are "value" and variety for ports/area being visited. Lots of factors to consider!! The food and is quality, dining times, etc., can be important, but that is not the main or only factor for us. With Solstice, we liked their speciality dining. Also, the set-up and variety/quality for the Oceanview Cafe. Nice buffet operation. See more below.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Did a June 7-19, 2011, Celebrity Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. We are now at 136,045 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at:

Heard good things about them and my wife has cruised with them before. 1st time for me, previously cruised with NCL and HA.. Main reason we are going Celeb this time round is the more restrictive smoking rules. That is to say, state room balconies 'No Smoking'.

In no particular order:

Smoking Policy, Best Food, Laid Back Atmosphere, Great Service, Beautiful Ships, Elite Perks, Officers who do a great job. Nice Bars, Ship feels roomy. Adult atmosphere (although they do provide for children).

I realize most of these are subjective except for the smoking policy. I have never thought the smoking policy was that important to me, but the thought of going on another ship, and walking through a casino filled with smoke has made me consider cancelling a cruise we already have booked on RCL.

That pretty much sums it up!

To add one specific idea to the food options... Tuscan Grille... I just LOVE the place!

In addition, if you enjoy the laid back itineraries of most transatlantics, you can always find 13-15 day cruises for $50 per day. ( I REALLY love that!)

# 1 reason by a MILE!!!

We are now Elite and LOVE the benefits... it makes it hard for us to cruise with our # 2 choice Princess where our Elite benefits as good as they are, aren't to us as good as what "X" gives us.

others:

Clean air policy

Select dining

Demographics(not so many children)

Food, and service

amazing crews
