Hi M,

Lovely piccies .... and it isn't possible to monopolise so I'm removing that excuse!

More piccies!!!

This one was just funny. Some doctors were stopping people in the street in Zvar and giving people blood pressure tests. The one just off the picture on the left was smoking a cigarette. Anyone not least a doctor knows you can't take BP like the is but .....

I also like this one. A lovely couple we met on SS. "Where's the sun?".

I love those! The first one is hilarious and the second one is perfect with your caption!

I will post one more arty shot then I have to start on the dreaded laundry! :(

Here is a blue rose in the corner of mirrors in the bathroom of our stateroom on our South America cruise.

Still here lurking around in the background. The piccies are magnificent and as usual the food ones are killing me as I'm trying to lose a few of those lbs for the October adventure.

We just booked on the Whisper for the Norway North Cape cruise in June 2016 - it will be nice to see Norway again we loved our last cruise in that direction. The only bit I don't look forward to is flying to Copenhagen - its now over a year since we flew anywhere and I don't miss it at all! However a necessary evil unfortunately.

Jeff - we're going to Shrewsbury Flower Show mid August and there will be a specialist food section there I will try and take more notice of the exhibitors this time if I'm not whizzed through faster than the speed of light!

Mary ...... you will be my downfall. We will end up selling up and moving to Shrewsbury .... and then I'll lose my kitchen.

Just confirm Ocado don't deliver and I'll be safe!

:)

That's a great piccy!

This is of wifey sharing a punch with me in a Vienna Christmas market. She really doesn't like her own but loves to share one with me.

Mary, I do not want to presume so just in case some of my posted pictures are part of your comment, I want to say "Thank You". If not, kindly destroy this post. :) I'll just crawl back under my rock!

I went rummaging through my photo files and stumbled on this one. It was taken in November of 2005 just after I got my Olympus as a birthday gift from Myster. I was playing around with it in the yard at the side of our house. I had completely forgotten about it. Is this what you had in mind with the monochrome suggestion Jeff?

That is a lovely piccy M!

Do you think El Presidenté is sulking because your piccies are so good ....

:D

Jeff

Very kind of you to say that the piccies are good and no I do not think that is the reason for his silence! :) I think he is just very busy! And I hope that's the reason other regulars are AWOL. I think I will make some room in this lovely cooler for others to speak or post piccies or vent frustrations or recite poetry or tell knock knock jokes. I plan to post some more piccies next week. Leave them wanting more! :)

Well the good news was that it was under 90 degrees today... Finally cool enough to take a long walk after work. Still haven't been able to run outside in the past week but hopefully soon.

Dinner was quick and simple. Dover sole, quickly coated with salt, pepper, and flour. Seared in olive oil, then simmered a few minutes in the pan with lemon juice, a splash of Sauvignon Blanc, and a little broth. Capers and a few slices of lemon for the final touch, and a smidge of butter. It cooked from start to finish in less time than it took to cook some Jasmine rice to serve with it.

A little extra beurre blanc to soak into the rice, and it made a nice light summer meal to have along with the rest of the bottle of Savvy. It did not stand a chance of lasting long enough to take a photo... :)

Now enjoying a sip of Provençal rosé from E. Guigal (Côtes du Rhône) with some cheese and crackers before signing off for the night.

BTW I really love capers. It took me a while to convince Chris to try them, because the only ones you can easily find around here are soaked in vinegar for aeons until they turn into mush. She doesn't really like vinegar or mushy-textured stuff, so it was an uphill battle, but like me, she really likes salt. Now I only use capers that are dry-packed in salt, so we're all set! They are more expensive, but IMO so much better. My favorite batch of them was the 1kg bag I stuffed into my suitcase from a cruise stop in Sicily.

If we're not in Southern Italy often enough to keep them in stock, I can buy them in New York at Eataly. That place is amazing...has anyone else ever been there?

That food sounds gorgeous JP, and the fish ... perfect! Glad Chris has teusted and tried capers. It goes so well with the beurre ......

We haven't spent much time in Southern Italy ie The Heel, largely because except for the cheap airlines ie not Heathrow, it has large been a palaver to get there. But BA started summer flights .... so ...

A piccy taken of two friendly policeman in Bangkok, and a chance picture of a park bench also in BKK.

Another beautiful picture! She looks so peaceful! And so young! :)

36 bleedin' hours younger than me .... and rumours put about at various times during my life of irritatin' people is that she was my aupair, my maid (partly true although she absoultely refuses to dress up in the maid's outfit I bought ... it ain't fair M ... not fair .....) my PA/secretary (also partly true although when she is very bossy and doesn't like it if I don't file things properly .. ...), my second marriage, then my third marriage .... and bizarrely my daughter. But this was when neighbours thought I was a drug barron because I of the black SL and so do three friends who visit ... one with a partner with a black S. So that makes us somewhere between the Corleone's and El Chapo's team ...

Here is her in the vineyards above Vienna walking down for lunch in a heurige (Martin Sepp) in Grinzing and then a 38 tram ride back to town ...

Yesterday's lunch. I know not what it is.

Corn-fed chicken, portioned, skinned, cooked in Italian tomato, wine, fresh thyme, whole garlic cloves, sugar and chilli and pepper and some Jersey potatos served in a bowl "all-in-one".

Is your wife really only 36 hours younger than you are? Mind you, to be fair, we haven't seen a picture of you to compare with. :) You could honestly look as young as she does! Not sure how she manages it. You and your shenanigans seem to generate a lot of attention and not always the good kind! That would be enough to age even the youngest looking person. :) You are indeed a lucky man Jeff! And your lunch looks delicious!

That meal sounds delicious JP! The perfect dinner for a warm evening. We broke temperature records here on Wednesday. It was the hottest temperature recorded for a July 29th in 123 years. 34C I think but the humidity was the killer!

Sophia, I don't know how you stand it! Having workers in and out of my house for long periods of time would drive me mad at this stage in my life. I'm sure the end result will be sooooo satisfying though! Enjoy your wee glass of red and your cottage pie! :)

Yes Mysty it was your pix I was referring to - amazing - I'm no good at pix neither taking them nor posting them LOL

As for pix of food - yum.

Jeff - it just so happens an Ocado van came into the drive about an hour ago - the are frequent visitors here - there's also a house for sale at the end of the drive which I'm sure must have a large kitchen - it certainly has a lovely large private rear garden :)

Thanks so much Mary! You really made my day! :) I honestly did not think my photos were anything special. The reaction here was a real surprise! I love taking pictures! And I really appreciate your kind comments!

Don't worry, Jeff, I have NOT been off "sulking"! Just been busy working, on projects, etc., and am doing so catch-up right now. Need proof that I have been busy? Below is one item of "evidence".

Appreciate all of the nice pictures posted recently, especially of Jeff's lovely wife. Keep it coming!!

Lovely weather last night, today, etc., here in Central Ohio. Enjoying this early August time period when things are not too hot. Much more for visuals to be posted by me!! And, hopefully, by others, including Candy, who owes us more from her wild partying in the Baltics, Russia, etc.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1974139

for more info and many pictures of these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 114,427 views for this posting.

Here is a TV reporter from the local NBC station at my home doing an interview yesterday with me in connection with the Presidential battles in the USA. It is still six more month to go until the first real voting starts, just in the primary, for New Hampshire. Elections are long, long in America. There will be 63 different caucuses and/or state primaries happening across our nation (and in some of the territories, etc.). It is not a short and more focused process as happens in the UK and other countries.:
