Calm seas for CA to Hawaii??

What time of year is best for calm sailing from California (San Diego or Long Beach) to Hawaii?

Any time of year or never. Just trying to say you can never tell till the cruise rolls around. It is a big ocean. :)

Historically the winter months could be the most stormy, but the summer months are the hurricane season so you never know then too.

Our three Hawaiian cruises have all been during the holiday time and each time the sea conditions and the weather conditions have been different. Even the first time, the sailing before us was on the rough side, and our first few days had been too (there was record surf in Los Angeles at that time, too). But the way back to the west coast was so smooth.

I would make sure to take whatever motion sickness remedies that work for you. BTW, my hubby and daughter weren't bothered by the sea conditions at all.

And even with rainy conditions or more than moderate seas, I really enjoyed these cruises, especially with the Hawaiian cultural program on Princess.

The "cruise to Hawaii" season is October to early May. So, mostly winter months. So some roughness, particularly the first two days going, and the last two days returning, is quite likely.

We are currently on a Hawaii cruise! The 1st two days were rocky then smooth seas on the 3rd day with beautiful weather. We just departed Kona and en route to Hilo. Aloha!
