chiokie Posted September 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Our ship (Oasis of the Seas) is arriving in Port Everglades at 6:15 AM. Will I be able to make an 11:20 AM flight.
skrufy Posted September 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2013 If all goes as planned, and you are on the road to MIA, you should be fine.
tunaman2011 Posted September 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Greetings What's plan b if anything gets delayed? Weekends at Port Everglades can be crazy. I just always suggest that people have a fall back just in case. That's not cutting things crazy close, but it's still close. JohninDC Posted September 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2013 For an 11:20 flight you need to be at MIA by 9:50 (and earlier is better - TSA is a chaos at MIA! :(), which means in a cab or limo and rolling by about 9:00. I would advise against renting a car - to many chances for delays with pick-up, gas and turn in. A taxi will run about $85 for that trip. Good luck! :)
royalcruz Posted September 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2013 That's cutting it close but you will probably make it on the weekend (less I95 traffic) if you do self-disembarkation.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2013 I would find a later flight. You may be fine and you might not and to me "may and might" are why I would find a later flight. Keith
eandj Posted September 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2013 I agree that yes, if all goes relatively delay free, you will have time. But...I guess I would look to something later only because I don't want to go to sleep the last night of the cruise worrying about what might happen the next morning. Nowadays, finding empty seats on a later flight if you miss yours, is much more difficult. It's just a matter of how much stress/worry you feel comfortable with. wallie5446 Posted September 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 13, 2013 Another option would be to try and get a flight out of FLL Airport. 15 min, $15 cab ride, and that would be very do-able:D

sp2 Posted September 15, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2013 I would try for a later flight (after noon or 1 p.m.) and try for a flight from FLL instead of MIA. You can't really go by the docking time of the ship. There are a lot of variables - number of other ships arriving at Port Everglades that morning is one, that they will need to clear before allowing anyone to disembark. Weather is another unpredictable variable. We have experienced disembarkations that did not start until after 10 a.m. I think it is rare and you would PROBABLY make it on time, but why give yourself that kind of stress and worry on the last day of your vacation? Have a great cruise!

chiokie Posted September 16, 2013 Author #14 Share Posted September 16, 2013 I understand that FLL is closer to port Everglades but I made flight reservations using miles through MIA. Our current reservation leaves at 1 PM with two stops. I can change flights only if I fly out of MIA. The 11:20 AM flight became available with only one stop. I think I will leave my flight at 1 PM with two stops. Thank you all for your input.
wallie5446 Posted September 16, 2013 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2013 At least this way you can linger a bit over breakfast and let the herd thin a bit :D before you leave. Have a great sailing.
