Siglo?

I too hope Siglo will be playing on the Riviera (based on that one video), because our next cruise will be on the Marina.

And I thought Siglo would be a nice Latin band. :(

Believe me, Siglo plays all kinds of music very well. They are very versatile.

So please all you lucky folks who will be on Riviera in the coming weeks, please report back about how wonderful they were--we're going to miss them on our cruise.

I realize, Wendy, that you have not yet sailed with Oceania, but these boys seem a tad too "metal" for the Oceania demographic.

...

Siglo is not my taste at all, but then I may just be an old fuddy duddy.

I don't think I could listen to that music for very long either - did not recognize any of it

I guess I am an old fuddy duddy too :D

I wonder how well attended were their performances. Does not appear to be a good match for O crowd (in general) - IMO.

I think you'd be both surprised how good they are. As I said, they are very versatile and don't just do rock and roll.

I concur. Experienced them on the Paul Gauguin & was amazed at their versatility.

As above, Siglo was the band on Paul Gauguin when it was run by regent. They can play pretty much anything, very versatile and great entertainers.

****? Saw these guys a few years ago on either Marina or Riviera and have to say they were quite good, best band I have heard on 9 sailings. Yes, I too am aging and no longer can stand loud wailing music but they do play other songs besides "Freebird". I think one has to hear for themselves before judging. I was hoping they would be on my sailing in Dec but will probably be stuck with that horrible out of tune brass band...don't even want to remember their name.

We have seen & heard Siglo on numerous Oceania cruises and I must say they are one of the few acts for which we "fuddy-duddys" are willing to convince ourselves to stay up past bedtime!!!

The dress code for that brass band should be sackcloth and ashes.

I'm having too much fun with this. I promise to shut up and not post any more in this thread.

This is from a member of the "Over the Hill Gang". Siglo Band played on our Marina transatlantic and we loved them! They are fantastic musicians and very versatile. Why don't you bring some requests, as they might have some more "traditional" R&R in their repertoire. I will say that we loved many aspects of the Oceania cruises we have been on, but we wished that there was a little more "activity" in the evenings. Of course you can blame the demographic that is onboard, but I just want to put my vote in. I love music and just because I'm playing Chopin right now doesn't mean I have no room for R&R,R&B, Latin, etc. in my life. Don't forget hardening of the opinions happens right after hardening of the arteries (alphabetically anyways!).

Hope I can always see you on the dance floor. And "Girls" just want to have fun!! :D

With envy,

Mia

I agree with Wendy! We absolutely loved them on our FP cruise earlier this year. We were there most nights dancing to their music and so were a lot of other people. Yes, I am over 50! They are very versatile and fun! Do not pass judgement on one you tube clip!

Siglo was the house band for our Tahitian cruise in January 2013. We were impressed with their versatility and musicality and even more so when advised by one of our cc mates that when complimented, the lead vocalist indicated that he did not speak English--all of the lyrics had been learned phonetically!

Also featured on that cruise was Vincent Martinelli, a solo classical guitarist who was again featured on our cruise which just concluded. Very enjoyable! Unfortunately, most of the other "production" shows were repetitive, so we were forced to spend our time in the casino!;-)

Siglo was on the PG after Regent owned it as well. They are terrific. Wouldn't it be a treat to have some more than decent music on an O cruise!!! It might even encourage me to stay up a little later LOL We love to dance and they play great dance music.

anyone got an update on what ship the band siglo is on? I know they were on marina earlier this year. I have this fantasy that they switch to riviera for our cruise next month. They are the absolute best.

we have just returned off riviera and they are on. Best band by far we have seen on oceania
