Rare BillOh Posted November 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) I'll play along out of curiosity. I think it might be one of the far east ships like Voyager. Some of those itineraries look really long. I'm thinking single year. Perhaps if your talking total mileage on the ships odometer (yea, I know they don't have one of those by name) Legend sounds right. BillB48 Posted November 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Completely unscientific, I would think the two R ships (Radiance and Rhapsody) that hang out a good part of the year down where you are would be a good guess. They both have some rather lengthy voyages when sailing out of Sydney and then the round trip across the Pacific for the Alaskan season.
leaveitallbehind Posted November 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) Not sure which ship would fit the description you present in terms of this year, but Legend of the Seas is reported on line as the "most-traveled in the fleet" overall as it has been based in Asia, New Zealand, Australia, South Pacific, Alaska, Caribbean, Central America, Baltic, Mediterranean, and the Middle East since being launched in 1995. DonnaK Posted November 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Very interesting question! I wonder if there is an "official" answer, although the two R ships and Legend are great guesses.
Aquahound Posted November 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Most mileage in a year? Considering all the ships are always moving, I'd say its the ones with the most sea days in their itineraries. The answer is probably Oasis or Allure. Good point, but the Freedom does essentially the same route plus it has to rattle all the way back up to Port C.... so it may get more miles under the keel than the O&A. Plus Freedom is older than either Oasis or Allure, so it has been sailing longer.

Firefighterhoop Posted November 5, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 5, 2013 There are a lot of factors to take into account: Both the "R Ships (Radiance Rhapsody) i would say have the furthest total re positioning cruises (Multiple segments) (Alaska to Australia) but when they are in their "homeports" do they travel that far on a weekly basis, (Alaska the ports are fairly close together) However, you get a ship out of BWI or Newark, thats a long trip down to the Caribbean on a 10/11 or so day rotation. BUT the fact in the summer, they sit for days in a row in Bermuda would reduce the miles drastically. Another visitor suggested the Legend (Old route, as it will be based out of US now in winter) and that had some pretty lengthy Far east routes, however, so did some of the Europe routes that literally went from England down around into the MED. So, to make a long story short (too late) someone would have to sit down and add up ever itinerary in a year that the ship does to get the answer. (doable, yes it is). Some ships (Oasis/Allure/Freedom) would be easy, others that really don't repeat would be harder. Just my thoughts.
Lunarclipse Posted November 5, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Based off of the sailings the Legend of the Seas has the most days at sea I believe. Between East and Westbound Panama cruises and longer Pacific cruises I put my money on her.

FOS does ~400 NM more than either Oasis or Allure in its 2 week cycle. (4676 vs 4264)
springaussie Posted November 5, 2013 Author #15 Share Posted November 5, 2013 I believe the question is yearly mileage, not overall. Yes I was thinking over a 12 month period. I thought Rhapsody and Radiance would be high. Falmouth - Cozumel would certainly slow the Allure and Oasis mileage down.
Str8asitgets2 Posted November 5, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 5, 2013 I would have to say the Explorer. She has been based out of NJ for going on 10 years now. She may sail the same 3 or 4 itineraries, but to get from NJ down to the Caribbean and back, that's a lot of sea days, and they are are all full throttle pretty much. Just my guess. :)
Dawniepoo Posted November 6, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Just when you think every question under the sun has been asked, someone comes up with a fabulous one! I want to know the answer to this and which ship has travelled the most miles total.
emeraldcity Posted November 6, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Great thread! I hope someone can work out the answer. Just my two cents ... but the OP needs to define the criteria a bit better. Are we talking a rolling year, or a calendar year? Hopefully, calendar year, since the answer could conceivably keep changing every week.
bwest the man Posted November 6, 2013 #19 Share Posted November 6, 2013 What about the Independence. She has some long european itineraries and then has the two Transatlantic cruises.

And it does fewer long cruises now then it used to where the ship floats around the Caribbean for 5 days before heading North again. Anyway, we are on the last cruise out of BDB to our new home in Florida. 84 today and NY is 45. Yay! :)
