G85 SS Posted November 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2013 Well, given the fact that the menu's in the main dining room have taken a downhill slide from the previous menus, I am looking at spending more time in specialty restaurants for dinner on future cruises. I will be reserving an evening at Portofino on my cruise in December to see if specialty restaurants are worth the cover charge or not. Though I have read that a lot of people do enjoy the food in the specialty restaurants and say they are worth the cover charge and then some. PattyG12 Posted November 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2013 We love the filet in Portofino. Sometimes it's just really nice to have a nice, quiet meal without the hustle and bustle of the MDR. Enjoy!
bouhunter Posted November 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2013 Sometimes it's just really nice to have a nice, quiet meal without the hustle and bustle of the MDR. Enjoy! Exactly. I know lots of people love it, but we've become burned out on the MDR atmosphere. The last couple 7 night cruises we did specialty dining 3-4 nights. The other nights we ate at Windjammer where it's calm and quiet and relaxed compared to the MDR. That in addition to the fact that there seem to be few entree's in the MDR we would want to order any more. To the OP - definitely try Portofino on Adventure!!!! If you try it the first night or two, you may decide to go back again later in the cruise:)
leaveitallbehind Posted November 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Portofino's is one of our favorites! The Spiedino di Mare is my wife's favorite choice. (Grilled skewer of Maine lobster, gamberoni, scallops, and salmon). Although we've never been there on Adventure. oneputt18 Posted November 13, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 13, 2013 The lambs chops in Portofino were as good as I have had. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Forums mobile app
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted November 13, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 13, 2013 We are a family of three generations that travel on cruises many times, and all of us agree we prefer Portofino's over Chops, both are wonderful but Portofino's is our favorite! Not as good for me.
