Rumors about January C&A changes

My bad, Doc would be OB and no one was rude. They were just asking why she cared whether someone would get a free drink. Phish's entire 'idea' is basically to eliminate perks from others so Phish could have exclusivity to the CL.

Oh, I didn't read that into it. I assumed everyone Diamond and up would receive drink tickets for wine, beer, alcoholic drinks, non alcoholic drinks and specialty coffees if they didn't want to purchase the drinks package in Phish's scenario.

Yea, Phish said no freebies until Pinnacle.

Well I hope she's not getting hammered (though she does like drink packages *sly grin*). She's allowed to express her opinion on it of course. Just because others (myself included) don't agree with it doesn't mean we object to her having her opinion or voicing it.

So you got my little play on words? And no I haven't been drinking (yet).

But thanks for allowing me to express my opinion, it's always nice to have permission.

Really, the overwhelming amount of cruisers we know cruise for the love of it, not points, status, or levels.

While this is why I cruise, above with the rewards is what caused me to switch lines for the most part after traveling with a friend that would only cruise RCCL because of the above.

I was just shy of Diamond when they switched and would have cruised before the switch to get there had I know. I felt I got shafted with the switch and only stayed to cruise with said friend.

I was surprised to see some here concerned about losing the snacks. While on the Explorer doing a 10 day back to back we had them on the first 10 day but on the second, none. We only had peanuts. We were told Diamond no longer get anything but peanuts and the hot snack and fruit on the first was a mistake. So my Diamond friend couldn't even use the lounge due to peanut allergies.

And the December cruises this year because of all the diamonds who booked thinking there would be a diamonds in December event. We were told that there will be 450 to 650 Diamonds or above on each of the December cruises - not including the holiday cruise.

I know last year they opened up the Pyramid lounge, and Viking crown lounge, and the card rooms as over flow on the Independence of the Seas because I was there.

I'm one here:o I didn't realize they weren't doing it until after I bought air. (My sister was in a hurry to book it and I gave in.) Now stuck doing 4 cruises I would have canceled. Yep, I am only doing Royal for the benefits I thought I would get. Otherwise I would have stayed with the cruise line that did all my laundry for free for me.:D

it seems like most folks are saying---

phish said this-

phish said it will be this way-

phish said they are going to do-

phish said the changes are-

phish said you must pay-

etc.-etc.

well phish actually said none of this, what I said was.--"this is what i would like to see",

check my original thread #442

changes will affect us all-myself included.

you can blame phish all you want. if you know me, you know i love all the attention.

thank you one and all for bashing and happy cruising.:):)

Wife booked December cruise in May hoping for promotion, didn't happen.:(

Singles get double points became the new program, so she got her extra credits anyway. :D

I asked my sister to join me on the third. Had I know and had air booked I wouldn't have asked anybody to join me. My DH really didn't want to go but as I was paying 200%. I would have let him off the hook. That is what I get for listening to the LA when I booked.

I wonder if it's because some ships do not have a dedicated D lounge. As an example, when we sailed the Adventure in Feb. we had drinks in the room by the Viking lounge and only had nuts . However, when we sailed the newly refurbished Serenade this past August there's a dedicated D lounge and served various canapés, hors d'ovres, and other snacks. Much much better than what was served in the Oasis lounge.

You're correct. On ships without a dedicated DL, the nightly Diamond event usually has only trail mix for a snack.

I see this thread still lives. Lots of interesting stuff here though, especially with the recent Celebrity revelations.

It's actually gotten a bit quieter once that Celebrity page leaked with what the tier benefits were. I think it shed light on to changes that could be very real now for C&A!! That voucher trial on the TA seems was actually killing two birds with one stone.

Although phish is taking plenty of heat and like I said earlier, it's more in the delivery, he/she predicted this a long time ago and everyone jumped all over the thought of it. All the other stuff you say Phish-come on-you gotta know you get under people's skin.

We were discussing with friends last night how many points on RCCL they may have and what C&A status they may have. They cruise several different lines, but every one of their cruises are 11 to 15 days long.

Is Royal still giving people double points for longer cruises? When we looked at the information available, from reading it, it appears that you only get double points for suites and larger accommodations.

Since Royal gives a point per night, you are already getting extra points for longer cruises, so there's no need to give extra points for 12+ day cruises.

what i would like to see in the upcoming changes:

keep the CL only for suite guests. (grand and above)

do away with drinks in the dia lounge (not the lounge, only the free drinks) and go to drinks as follows;

dia members 25% off drink package

dia+ members 50% off drink package

pinnacle members free drink package.

no more freebees until you reach pinnacle.

How about reciprocity, do you hope they do away with that also? Wouldn't that reduce the numbers?

I see Celebrity has their new points showing on their website...your cruise history only displays for a second or two, but it shows your new point conversion.

i have never cruised on Celebrity so i honestly can't answer that. I heard very good things about Celebrity and I feel since RCCL owns them; sooner or later the perks will be the same on RCL & Celerbrity.

Not transferable but the same . you will get the same perks as you reach their status on the individual cruise lines that you are cruising on. I personally would like to see this happen.

I think they will be similar, but not the same. The two lines, while owned by the same company, don't go after the same demographics. Sure, some of it overlaps, and there are things anyone would like, but their core customer probably won't be looking for the same thing in terms of perks.

Carnival Corp, and their lines, don't do the same. It's one company, but the individual lines are different, though similar, products.

I had an email survey from Royal in my inbox this morning. All about C&A benefits. There were 13 pages with 5 benefits grouped together, everything from robes in the cabins to upgrades, and they wanted to know which of the five was most important, and which was least important. Every time robes was listed, I put that as least important. Various discounts were most important (stateroom, beverage package, they also included laundry discounts & casino play). They also listed various behind-the-scenes tours, priority boarding, priority wait lists.

There was no mention of reserved seating anywhere as a C&A benefit.

They wanted to know if the Diamond "events" and Welcome Back events were important, and if we liked recognition of cruising levels. (They're not at all important to us, but still more important than robes in the cabin!)

It took about 15 minutes to complete the entire survey.

Did anyone else receive this?

We like the robes. Considering how many people I've seen wearing them on balconies while we have been at a port of call, I would say that we are not the only ones who appreciate having them in the cabin.

I like to use them on the balcony chairs ... saves having to use a towel!

It wasn't a question of not liking the robes, it was a question of how important are they compared to other benefits ... for us, they are not as important as any of the others.
