Fort Lauderdale or Miami

We are taking a cruise out of Miami for our fourtieth anniversary the end of January. We are flying to FLL on Fri. for our cruise on Sun. Any suggestions on staying in Ft Lauderdale one night and Miami the next? What to see or where to stay and transportation ? We will not be renting a car.

I would stay in one city or the other. Why check and unpack twice. Just my thought.

 

There's plenty to do in both cities. Have a great time.

I would check out the Florida Departures Board for a recommendation but first I would decide on a city. I would pick one.

 

Personally I would pick Miami.

Our flight to Fort Lauderdale and transfer to Miami is much less cost than flying into Miami. That also includes the cost of the overnight stay in Ft. Lauderdale.

 

We fly into FFL the night before and schedule a transfer thru SAS. Low cost, maybe a few stops on the way, can be done on line, along with reservation at a FL hotel/motel that provides transport to hotel from airport.

 

Have found none that provide transportation from airport then to miami cruise port. This seems to be an intercity conflict to keep their territory protected for their own people.

 

Really need an overnight stay in Ft. Lauderdale, however, a little time to come down from the real world and get in tune for the cruise. Hope this helps. :cool:

We usually stay in Embassy Suites - FLL. Easy walking distance to bars, restaurants, wine & grocery stores.

Miami and Ft Lauderdale are not too far apart. You could look for someplace in between and not have to change hotels. Dania Beach might be a good choice. There are many hotels there and most will have shuttles to the pier.

Fly in, take one of many cheap shuttles outside baggage to Miami Beach. Fountainblu or Raleigh both on Beach, nice. No beach in most of FtL. Look up hotels, activities on Trip Advisor.

Why not rent a car? Car rentals are relatively inexpensive in in this area, outstanding freeways and freeway signs, and with a car you can find some great hotels at reasonable prices.

How to get from FLL to Hollywood Beach then to Miami Hotel next day? Do not want to get a car. Cab fare is so expensive and SAS doesn't go to the hotels.Any ideas?
