robinph Posted January 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2014 the Rhapsody is still booked in at OPT past 2016 so it appears nothing has been done as yet Rhapsody is definetley going 2015, Captain Rob confirmed this when we were on her 3 weeks ago, but would not speculate on her replacement. Royalty X Posted January 4, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 4, 2014 They'll leave the Rhapsody bookings in the port schedule as a place holder for her replacement (much like Carnival had TBA in there before the Legend was announced).
Rare mr walker Posted January 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2014 I'll put my money on the replacement for Rhapsody being Mariner, so another Voyager class. I am disappointed that Rhapsody is leaving, as a ship her size can visit ports (without tenders) the larger girls can't.
Pushka Posted January 5, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2014 It's just a lot of speculation really.
Kiwi_cruiser Posted January 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2014 It's just a lot of speculation really. The only thing we do know is that the Rhapsody is going :( What I want to know is what is the Radiance of the Seas doing in 2015, as I think she is also going. Have heard that Voyager is to have tender boats fitted during it's refurb so it can do the tender ports also. Robin:)

I hope not. I understand they are positioning to attract a new market, however they will loose an existing loyal market, if they no longer offer medium sized ships which can visit smaller ports. It only took me one cruise, on a large ship, to know that queueing for tender tickets, and waiting for tenders, wasn't for me.
Pushka Posted January 5, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 5, 2014 We had to tender in Villenueve on the Liberty and had no wait at all. The crew said the busiest time was 9.30 so we got there at 9am and went straight onto the tender. Same coming back in the afternoon.

However, I know that tendering on Poesia was a nightmare. Whilst we were on first tender every time for Ocean Princess (small ship), even though we are independent travellers. Pushka Posted January 5, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 5, 2014 I suspect it depends on the Port. And size of the tenders. We have one coming up in Kota Kinabalu where cruise ships calling are not that common at all, esp one the size of QM2. I'm thinking I will be posting the same as you are next April. Maybe also on the cruise line. I would expect QM2 to have a quite civilised process. Poesia's was chaotic, compounded by the majority of cruisers on board. PS I just read your comment that P&O Oriana put you off cruising for 30 years! Angelina Laura put me off cruising for 30 years also, even though I continued to travel overseas during that period. Yes, cruising back in those days - no room service, not wonderful foods, no room for double beds, but there always was a casino.
