It is only a booze cruise if that is what you make it.

 

We did a 2 night CTN out of NYC. Same sailaway on our balcony, spa, Le Bistro, etc.

I was referring to the other couple of thousand people who turn it into a booze cruise. I think I'm just spoilt by 7+ night cruises and too grumpy to be disturbed by party goers at 4am . Must be getting old !!!

I know the NYC port charges are so high!

 

I bet the ship still makes out well with alcohol cigarette etc sales. Not to mention the small fortune the casino brings in on a 12 hour binge!

 

 

But when you think about it For just a little over $200 you get dinner and entertainment and a bed to crash.

 

Even with booze cost the overnight is still not so bad for a couple.

 

DW and I are going to spend the evening in Burlington (population 30k)next Saturday and with hotel and meals alone it's costing us at least $150 and we have to provide our own entertainment (and drive around for meals, etc.). If I weren't still paying on our Gem cruise we would have jumped on that $22 fare:).

Oh I agree. I know the price is fabulous even with port charges and tax at approx $200 per couple. I am just saying that the madhouse that an overnighter will undoubtedly become is not something that we would enjoy.

 

I am quite sure that those who embark on this snowy Friday jan10 in NYC will have a wonderful time and will want to book again.

 

I hope the weather doesn't delay the departure or the arrival

 

I can't imagine how thrilled the crew is with these monthly overnighters though.

 

I will go out on a limb here and guess that they are quite profitable for the cruise line especially with the lack of fuel usage and high usage of the casino and bars. Lol

My opinion stands as is and is exactly that. My opinion. I am not saying OP is wrong. However in my opinion if the cruise line offered something I feel he should be appreciative instead of saying he was ripped off.

 

What I am trying to say is prices do change. And if you or I or anyone else willing accepted the initial price we should not expect the difference to be refunded. In that same concept if we book a cruise for $100 and the price on final days go to $200. Shouldn't the cruise line expect you to pay that difference too then?

 

I do respect your opinion, you are one of the few that was kind in their responses. And I think it's great that the cruise company offered the OP almost 50% in OBC, but I also appreciate that he posted on here to complain about it because I learned something.

 

I posted earlier that if the price of the cruise goes up the answer is a big NO; the cruise line should NOT get the difference because we are the customers and we would not do business with a cruise company that does that. If the price goes up then you should feel really good that you booked in advance and you got a good price.

And as is my opinion, that is the ONLY way it should be. That's why they try and sell you to book in advance isn't it? So that you LOCK in a discounted price. (And of course stateroom, etc etc)

 

Of course looking at your examples I know for sure that unless I am planning a cruise way in advance, and I want a specific cabin; I do NOT want to book in advance because the price will drop.

I was going to take the Epic this March and I deliberately let my courtesy hold lapse once I read the OP.

I understand there are reasons to book in advance believe me I do. I can drive from my house to Miami or Fort Lauderdale cruise terminals in less then 20 minutes and I see the ships every day going out from my balcony. I have the luxury of waiting last minute, if I am not picky about what cabin I get.
