myc6toy Posted January 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Does SS have daily onboard activities on port intensive cruises ? Our cruise has a port every day, some of which we have no real interest in seeing other than a casual walk around, and are hopeing that there will be some activities onboard for those that dont take the offered tours. duct tape Posted January 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2014 There are board games available. Activities are curtailed until the ship sails. It is always terrific to have the pool and spa to yourself.
myc6toy Posted January 23, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 23, 2014 We figured that with two days in Cannes that one was enough for us to tour and one for spending onboard to relax and take in all that the ship has to offer. I was hoping for some sort of organised activity that we could partake in.
Rare fudge Posted January 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2014 On all the SS cruises we have been on there is very little in the way of organised activities etc. We have had dancing lessons, there have been cookery demonstrations, a take back to your cabin daily quiz, table tennis, shuffle board. There is also suduko, golf putting (inside) There is a bridge club in the card room, the odd volley ball game in the pool. You could organise a drinking competition that sounds good to me!!! :p
Rare Silver Spectre Posted January 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2014 There are board games available. Activities are curtailed until the ship sails. It is always terrific to have the pool and spa to yourself. There is a daily quiz, a crossword, and of course you can always retire to the library to read a newspaper. Other than that, its going to be eating, drinking, sleeping etc.

Observer Posted January 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2014 There are often discounted spa specials on port days. They may not be advertised. It's worth asking the spa manager.
Emtbsam Posted January 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2014 OMG - Overnight in Cannes - how fabulous. Rent a car and drive inland to Cabris or the Gorges de Verdun. Go to Grasse, Vence, St. Paul, Biot etc.. Don't waste the opportunity to see some extraordinary scenery and lovely quaint villages.
DogLover45 Posted January 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Fudge, did you say table tennis? Do they have that on Spirit? We're avid ping pong players and will bring our own paddles if they have the table. I just never even thought of ping pong as an on-board option. farbster Posted January 24, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I would not stay on the ship in Cannes. Try renting a car and going to Saint-Paul de Vence to visit the Foundation Maeght. Lots of things to visit that are better than sitting by the pool and drinking...
Seafairer Posted January 24, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Port days are indeed very quiet, which is probably the case on most luxury lines. Lectures and other special activities are normally scheduled on sea days, when everyone is onboard to enjoy them. In addition to the activities mentioned above, Afternoon Tea is scheduled every day. We always felt that staying on the ship while in port provides a very special daytime opportunity to really enjoy the ship and Silversea's fabulous service, which, after all, is what we paid for! myc6toy Posted January 25, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Thanks for all the info .. I think I will let the better half decide what we should do while in Cannes. (that way I stay out of trouble)
