A Super Credit

A friend of mine received the following:

Must have booked a cruise with Princess PRIOR to 12/31/2013. Would receive “stateroom credit” (matching the booking price of the room but minus port fees/gratuities) for the NEXT cruise. Next cruise must be at least a 7 day one. Next cruise must be taken before 12/31/2014. She received a $599 credit and verified by checking her credits on her "My Princess". Something doesn't sound right.

I missed out because our back-to-back Ruby cruises in December were not included. The cruise director said during the "Wake Show" of our second cruise that the Dec. 26 cruise was included in the promotion. It wasn't a holiday cruise since it was between Christmas and New Year's and apparently that might have been the reason he gave everyone on the ship the wrong info. The Princess rep who called me told me that he was wrong and that we wouldn't receive anything for his misinformation. We probably would have booked a cruise on the Royal for DH's spring break in March if Princess had honored the cruise director's info. It would have made enough of a difference to pay for the higher airfare.

We had a suite for our 5-day Eastern Caribbean on the Ruby last week - it was wonderful.....and the full credit has been applied to the cost of our 12-day Baltic in May. That one won't be in a suite however :(

I had a suite on the Golden a week before the promotion started. Got home and saw the great deal they were offering and instead of being upset,I just booked another suite during the promotion. Today I used my credits to pay for a mini suite in April less port fees.... Thank You Princess!

Where could I find out more information on this credit? I booked last Oct for the cruise we are taking in Jun to the Baltics and if I will be getting a credit I want to start looking at options. (A bit obsessive with planning.)

Unless you booked and sailed on the qualifying getaway cruises, don't worry about the credit. You won't be getting one. Sorry you missed out!

I don't really understand why there would be any expectation on Princess to give a ship full of people a 100% credit because the Cruise Director misspoke. If the reason you had bought it was because someone at Princess told you that you'd get the FCC, that would be one thing. But everyone was already onboard. It's hardly a bait and switch.

I did many of the 100% back cruises (some in a Window Suites). It was a terrific promotion and hope for its return in the fall. I received all of my information through emails from Princess or fellow passenger friends. I disseminated the information to many passengers on the ships I sailed because the FCC staff member failed to mention it to booking passengers. I even mentioned it to people who were on shore excursions with me, but not passengers on the ship. This is why you should have friends that look out for you and CC threads.

It really was too good to be true and I am so thrilled to have had the opportunity to do so many cruises.

We thought that this was deducted from the next cruise. Instead we have a room credit of over $2000! Since we have booked all of our excursions independently, I will need a lot of retail therapy.

Are you sure it is a room credit (OBC). Or is it a FCC (future cruise credit). ???

I already had the promotion applied from our January Sailing and was used to pay for my April Transatlantic. Those who took those sailings make sure your Credit shows in your personalizer.

I was surprised at how many people who were on the qualified sailing weren't aware of the promotion.

Mine was in the form of FCC - I sailed solo in January on Ruby for only 50% extra single supplement. I am currently booked for Royal in March and the credit was applied to my sailing ($749). I'd also bought another FCC while onboard Ruby, so that was deducted from my Royal sailing, was given $50 OBC from that FCC and another $50 from a promotion they were doing when I booked Royal. The Ruby casino host also gave me a letter to present on my next cruise (had to be booked & taken by certain dates which I've done) for another $150 cash to be given to me at the Royal casino. This whole 100% promotion was great for me since without it, I would not have taken the January cruise. The only downside is that I'm sailing solo again and there was no break on the double price for a cabin on the Royal. Can't wait til they do another 100% FCC deal!

You'd better check... The credits go towards payment of any cruise not paid in full, 7 days or longer and must sail by 12/31/14... NO OBC!

Thanks for the heads up. I didnt realize there were 2 tabs (cruise/onboard credits). I would much rather have the money deducted from our Oct cruise since we already have a lot of onboard credit.

What a great deal this has been. Hope they do it again next year.

You'd better double check because Princess is NOT going to give you the credit as OBC. You HAVE to use it towards a cruise or lose it. I'd hate to see you lose it. I think you may be getting wrong information from somewhere... Is your October cruise paid in full already?

No,no,no it is not listed as an OBC. It is listed as a CRUISE credit. It will be applied to the cost of our fall trans Atlantic. This is what I assumed they would do. When I looked at my cruise personaliser, I didn't see the two different tabs ( OBC/cruise credit) and assumed (NEVER assume!!!) they were the same.

Disaster averted
