VIFP points for free cruise offer?

For those of us that received and booked the free cruise offer, will we receive vifp points for those days sailed? The vifp points terms and conditions weren't very clear. If you have booked a free cruise in the past I'd like to hear your experience with this.

Other posters of free cruises have reported NOT receiving VIFP days for the cruise.

We won a cruise playing Bingo on Sensation. We were already booked on the Miracle and were able to apply that to the Miracle cruise. My DH didn't get VIFP points for that sailing but I did. It's odd though as the price of the cruise was well over the $800.00 value of the 'free cruise' that was won.

Interesting...I did upgrade from the free inside to a balcony. I'm just grateful for the free cruise, vifp points would just be a bonus!

Hello...I just did the free cruise this past September on Pride and got the vifp points for that cruise. My offer was thru the casino and I had ten cruises to choose from varying from inside to balcony. We got an extended balcony on the Pride for just the port and taxes fees but they gave both my DH and myself the points for it.

I recall paying zero port and other fees: It was a total freebie !

Maybe that's why I got zero VIFP points/days.

 

My freebie came to me via a local travel Agent, here on the island

- not via a casino where I fed CCL a ton of cash: that could be the difference!

What are the details of your free cruise offer? Was it a casino free cruise? Did you pay taxes and port fees? Did you upgrade your room by paying a little extra? Now we are all wondering! Lol!

I received my free cruise through my VIFP number as a past guest, not casino offer. I also upgraded from the free inside to a cove balcony for any extra $80 pp. with port fees, taxes and the balcony charge I paid about $350 for two people. Anyone with this same scenario that can give some insight as to whether or not you were awarded VIFP points?

Oh I do hope you receive credit for your free cruise!! That would stink to miss out on turning gold. Do you mind sharing the details of your free cruise offer?

My free cruise on Victory Nov. 2008

was very kindly given to me by a local travel agent here on the island.

 

We only had to pay air fare to P.Rico to start the cruise there.

We got off in Barbados -3 days.

I didn't even get the VIFP points that I earned!! Sailing in 5 weeks on my 8th Carnival cruise, and I just found out that I never received credit for my first 2 cruises because they were before the VIFP program. They said in order to get the points I would have to provide proof of the cruises like an S&S card. They were in 1989 & 1990!!! LMAO!! Yah.....let me just get those documents I saved from 25 years ago. Thought I was inching closer to Platinum, but nahhh...:mad:

KYWEST1- I'm not totally sure how this works as I haven't done it....I heard that if you can give Carnival any proof of sailing that they will give you credit. I have heard a picture of yourself in front of the boat has worked for some if it shows the name of the vessel. Maybe others will comment who have done this successfully. Or start a new thread and ask!! It's certainly worth a try!!

I got the free cruise offer in August. I cruised in October, and I DID get the VIFP points for sailing. When I called to book, the letter was for a free inside cabin, but we were upgraded to an obstructed view balcony for free, and had to pay port fees and taxes of $51 per person. That was all. I got my credit for the cruise days AND earned my GOLD status..

We are staying in an inside spa interior for free. I didn't upgrade because even the $160 would have been too much money for us at this time with this short notice. I don't have to pay for airfare or parking, so literally tips is all I have to come up with between now and June on our cruise.

 

That being said, I don't mind if I don't get the points. When I fly for free using points, that flight I'm flying free I don't get any more points, so I'm not expecting anything Carnival, I'm just thrilled to be able to cruise out of the blue and in the summer for free. Thank you again, Carnival.

 

I could care less about the points anyway.

I cruised on a free cabin offer in October and did get points. Didn't upgrade (offer was for balcony cabin). It was a Players Club offer as a past guest but not a formal Premier Cruise. I could choose from about any cruise.

 

I did receive an actual Premier Cruise offer for a free (interior) cabin and will go on that in April.

 

I would think I would get the points for that. Right now I have 21 points and noticed a couple of weeks ago that this upcoming cruise is showing as Gold. If I'm not supposed to get points for the Premier cruise since it's a free cabin, I should still be red (<25points). So we'll see. Doesn't matter a lot to me.

Thanks belle2 for the suggestion. I did send them a copy of a Carnival picture as we were disembarking at San Juan. It had the name of the ship & everything on it. They replied that it had to be an "embarkation photo" to get credit....give me a break!!!

Anyway, enjoy your free cruise...I'm always happy for people who get nice surprises in life! :)
