jonellebel Posted February 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2014 My husband and I just returned from an amazing week long cruise onboard the Silhouette. We usually take 2 cruises a year on Celebrity and this by far was the best. The crew and service was the best ever!! We did a beach at every port and loved every single beach. Mr. Sancho's Beach resort was so much fun. Approx. $13pp one way to the beach. You can either pay $55 for all inclusive(drinks and food) or just walk on beach for free and still get beach chairs, pool, and Wi-Fi. What a great place!! Grand Cayman we took the public bus for $5 pp to Calico Jacks. What a fun place!! Free beach chairs and Wi-Fi. Lots to do along the beach also. The bus is right outside the terminal. Great shopping also. Jamaica we took another bus to Red Stripe Beach. This costs $28 pp both ways and includes chairs and use of resort. Nice private beach. The only way to get to a beach is to use private buses within the terminal. Probably a good idea. The port is very nice and tons of shopping. We did venture into town but found it to be rather annoying with all the locals bother us. Haiti was so nice and relaxing. We decided to go to the ocean side of the island. Very nice but the beach was covered in rocks and shells. Very hard to walk on. You can rent rafts for $12 and so relaxing. If you get a chance to eat at the Lawn Club DO IT!! Ask for Corsino...best waiter there. It is so relaxing and laid back. You can order as much food as you want and they want you to feel like your at home. Tuscan was great also but the Lawn Club was amazing. Sea days by the pool was packed so we decided to lay on the lawn. It was so quiet and very close to the bar, restrooms, and Ocean View Café. There are also comfy chairs and hammocks there too. Another little bonus was the Hideaway on Deck 7 midship. Coffee station set up along with a quiet sitting area. The sin city comedy show is a must see. OMG!! So funny. Don't miss it. The magician was by far the best I have seen. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of other details but if you have any other question just let me know. Hopefully I can help!!
jgperegrine Posted February 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Thanks for the review. I will be traveling on the Sihouette March 23. I am currently booked in cabin 7175, I noticed there are still some aft balcony's available. The current cabin I have is mid ship convenient to the stairs. The aft cabin would be great but long walk everytime you leave the cabin. Any thoughts?
jonellebel Posted February 16, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Great location for your cabin. We were in 6255 aft but very close to stairs. You will be very happy with your choice!!
Blue Lagoon Posted February 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Did you partake of the Elite/Elite+ Happy Hour? Was it held in a specific lounge or were vouchers given out? What did the Captain's Welcome Back cocktail party look like? In years past, it was quite a spread with sushi, chocolate fondue, carvery and drinks a plenty. The last couple of times, it was very scaled down and held in the theatre. And who would the captain be? I'm thinking rotations should be happening about now. Thanks. jgperegrine Posted February 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Ok thanks. Do you what time the earliest people got off the ship? I have an early return flight.

jonellebel Posted February 16, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted February 16, 2014 We did not do the Captains Club party. They do however have a very large brunch from 10-1 on Saturday in the dining room that is very nice. Our flight was at 9:25 this morning and we were at the airport by 8:15. The walk off starts at 7:30 and they also reserve 2 portside elevators for walk off guests. This went very smooth.

jonellebel Posted February 17, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Another quick tip. Talk to your maître D to get a great discount (30%) on specialty dining. They book everything for you. Nice touch!!
Ellen S Posted February 17, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2014 You are near the hideaway.:) Great place to read and get a cup of coffee anytime day or night. And being close to the elevators is a good thing. We were on the Silhouette two years ago and it's like yesterday. We did stay closer to the front elevators because there were less people. After the shows the mid ship elevators get crowded. Stay where you are. Ship is easy to get around. Unfortunately because of my DH health we are not cruising for a while. I am esp. happy to hear you loved Mr. Sanchos - I booked an AI as a birthday gift to my husband and I am really glad to hear it's a nice place. Thanks again for your review! I am esp. happy to hear you loved Mr. Sanchos - I booked an AI as a birthday gift to my husband and I am really glad to hear it's a nice place. Thanks again for your review! I was on this same sailing and it was a wonderful cruise. Tendering was very easy. We waited on Deck 3 at 9:45am and had no problem getting the first tender off. In fact, they were running two tenders and we were on the pier in Grand Cayman by 10:30am! Very impressed with how quickly they fill and run tenders. Helpful hint: on the tender back, try to sit on the top of the tender. It takes sooooo long to unload if you're sitting on the bottom.
jonellebel Posted February 17, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted February 17, 2014 No problems with tendering. You get your ticket to board on Deck 4(right outside the casino). They call the numbers rather quickly. I also did notice that you can sneak in line early because they really don't check your number!! LOL!! You will LOVE Mr. Sancho's!! Check them out on Facebook. Choozin Croozin Posted February 17, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Thanks for your review and tips. Leaving on the same itinerary in 3 weeks. Getting very excited. Could you explain a little about how the lawn club works? Thank you.
jonellebel Posted February 17, 2014 Author #18 Share Posted February 17, 2014 The Lawn Club is so much fun. It's a specialty restaurant but very laid back. Your first order that you place is your very own flatbread pizza. You can pick from many different toppings. That takes about 10 minutes to bake. You can even do half of 2 different toppings. Then you place your dinner order. You can order ANYTHING you want. If you want to try everything you can. They encourage it. Salad bar is your next meal once you place your dinner. I passed on it both times so I had enough room for my meal(s) and dessert. If you want to learn about all of the different spices and topping with your meal you put on an apron and gather around your grill master and he will explain this to you. Then you will head back to your table while he grills your meal. Now for dessert....the baked chocolate cookie with ice cream on it is to die for. Our waiter highly recommended it and wanted to bring us another one after we ate it. He also brought us an apple cobbler that night too. This restaurant is amazing and so laid back. We saw other guests wearing shorts or jeans. They want you to have fun. If you do go ask for Corsino. He is wonderful and so much fun. Hopefully this helps but if you have any other questions let me know!!

jonellebel Posted February 18, 2014 Author #21 Share Posted February 18, 2014 We talked to our Maître D in the main dining room about booking this for us. He first offered us a 20% discount but then changed his mind and did 30%. Just remind your waiter about the discount if its not on your statement and he will adjust it immediately. They are very helpful.
Benjo8 Posted February 18, 2014 #22 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Just got off the same cruise and it was one of our best Caribbean cruises we have taken over many years. Entertainment, food, ship, ports. Fabulous.

emcee207 Posted February 18, 2014 #24 Share Posted February 18, 2014 We were on the Constellation docked next to you in Cozumel. We were on the Silhouette in 2011 and loved her. I had "ship envy" last week! And, it was lots of fun when the Silhouette left and the two ships did the "dueling Horns" thing. Our favorite thing on the S class ships is to hang out at the Sunset Bar with comfy seating, bocci ball and putting right there, lovely restrooms right there and a great view from a great bar. We hardly ever hang at the pools on the S class ships, we'd rather be up top where it's less crowded and more comfortable.
