Murdock03 Posted February 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2014 Just wondering if anyone has seen 2 similar crusies or different lines, and were able to get one of them to match the other price, or promotion?
xxoocruiser Posted February 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Very easy to find similar itineraries but you won't find a cruise line that will price match what another cruise line is offering. marco Posted February 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2014 Probably not, if they are different lines. I know this is and extreme example, but I hardly think SilverSea would match the price for a cruise with same # of days, similar itinerary on say, NCL. leaveitallbehind Posted February 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Just wondering if anyone has seen 2 similar crusies or different lines, and were able to get one of them to match the other price, or promotion? In a word, no. Most mass market cruise lines sail at or very near to capacity on each cruise and are not concerned about matching other lines pricing to fill their staterooms. And if you were to ask a sales agent to do that they would politely tell you no. Although some cruise lines are similar to others, most are unique in what the offer, who their primary demography is, and how they operate. They each, as a result, typically have their own customer base (which often is very loyal) or type of customer they would attract. As a result, each cruise line sets their price based on their own criteria and their own operating cost base. So the resulting prices typically are not similar to begin with. If a cruise line is in need of matching someone else's price to fill their staterooms I would be somewhat concerned about what may be lacking in their service in the first place that would have them willing to do that. dkjretired Posted February 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2014 Also, don't believe you will find two ships going out the same time with the same itinerary. Different ports crate different costs.

njhorseman Posted February 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Also, don't believe you will find two ships going out the same time with the same itinerary. Different ports crate different costs. To give an example, NCL and Celebrity do identical itineraries to Bermuda from NY/NJ departing on Sundays in the summer, on the Breakaway and Summit, respectively. Both ships arrive in Bermuda on Wednesday morning and depart on Friday afternoon. Another example is Carnival, Princess and NCL doing identical cruises to Canada and New England from NY in the fall (they may not hit the ports in the same order but they hit all the same ports in the one week cruise). Lerin Posted February 21, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 21, 2014 Though they both sell T shirts and jeans, Macys will not price match Wal*Mart.
