new to diamond status

Recommended Posts

hi. we just turned diamond in the C&A loyalty program. other than getting a better balcony discount, I realized I don't know much about this level. Do any of you CC have any tips or D secrets you would like to share with me? We will be on the Freedom in August for grandsons graduation (HS). he has a C&A number but it is his 2nd cruise. He lives with us and is in same stateroom...can I link him to our status?

thanks all

Regarding linking your grandson, I'd talk with C&A. I know they link children, but I don't know if that rule extends to grandchildren.

If you Grandson lives with you, call C&A they will change his status to Diamond.(They did it for my neighbor)

On the Freedom you will have access to the Diamond Lounge and nightly cocktail hour from 5-7 PM (time may vary slightly) You will also get better coupons than your Emerald status gave you.

Here is a list of Diamond Benefits:

You will have acces to the Diamond Lounge 24/7 for coffee/tea/hot chocolate. They have breakfast items in the morning, and cocktail time from around 5pm till 8.30 pm with free wine/beer/ basic mixed drinks eg G&T. They also serve a good selection of hot and cold snacks during that time. There will be diamond concierge there at certain times who will get you ice show tickets, reservations for speciality dining and help with any queries. It's a lovely place to relax and meet people.

........and perhaps the best "perk" is that you no longer have to either speak or associate with any "pleebs' below you on the rewards program. Also you now can treat the crew like crap and if any complain always use that trump card "I am Diamond"........Welcome to the club......;)

You have to be in a full suite or a Pinnacle member to have access to Barefoot Beach.

Think you will find that he must cruise with you in the same cabin and that his status will not change until then next time he cruises, it is the same if will you are on a cruise and your status changes this does not take effect until your next cruise.

Huh? No, he does not have to cruise in the same cabin. Don't know what the rest of your post even means.

Since we reached the Diamond level, what we really enjoy is the DL cocktail hour each evening, and also the DL for specialty coffees/buffet breakfast each morning, and the Diamond balcony discount. As for the other bennies, don't really use them;):)

Keep in mind that once you reach Diamond level, it transfers to Elite level on Celebrity. Our Elite bennies on our X cruise were excellent!

I'm curious as I have never tried, is there any issue with taking a coffee out of the lounge in the morning and going out on deck or for a walk. I know alcoholic drinks are supposed to stay in there but I never gave any thought about the coffee.

Never had an issue with taking a drink out of the lounge to dinner in the evening. And I always get coffee from the DL or CL throughout the day...

My wife's first stop in the morning on the way to breakfast is to grab a latte from the CL/DL. They provide take-out cups and lids.

We have also turned diamond on our last cruise and are interested in learning about the perks. Being that the Explorer does not have a diamond lounge, how do you get speciality coffee/Buffett breakfast? Can you get it in the WJ or do you have to go to the main dining room, what about going into the concierge lounge for coffee?

Explorer does a Diamond and above full breakfast in one of the small dining rooms just outside the MDR. Specialty coffee is included in this breakfast. I get cafe mocha with my breakfast. You cannot go in the CL unless you are in a suite or are D+ or Pinnacle. The downside is you can't get specialty coffee anytime you want on ships without a DL.

Looking forward to being on the Brilliance of the Seas in May/June. I'm a Diamond as well (not all cruises listed below) In years past they used to offer appetizers and mixed drinks, but the last cruise we were on that had a DL only had beer and wine, no snacks or other alcohol. I'm curious also if anyone has ever complained about being a Diamond but not having the perks available to them on a ship that doesn't have a DL. Seems to me you're missing some great perks. I myself pick a cruise because of the itinerary usually, not the ship. If it has a DL, then bonus! I enjoy the happy hour, but have not done the breakfast, mainly because our travelling companions are not Diamond. I will do that on this up coming cruise though. After this cruise I will only have about 30 for the next level up! :p

Does anyone know if the Indy has the special dining room for breakfast, for Diamond and above?

Also I've ask this before, but never gotten an answer. Someone here mentioned transferring Diamond status to Elite status, on Celebrity.

How does Celebrity know you qualify for Elite, especially if you've never cruised with them before? Do you have to book by phone, with a live person, or how does it work?

When we reached Elite on Celebrity I emailed RCI and gave them our Captains Club numbers and our Crown and Anchor numbers they sent me an email letting me know we were diamond. I am sure it would work the same way reversed.

Celebrity has some great perks for Elite 90 min of free internet, never have to buy a package again..
