mcrcruiser Posted March 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2014 We sailed Silhouette 3/2 & 3/9 /14 to the Eastern & Western Caribbean . We have seen the black jack tables start at $10 per hand & up & the craps table also $10 minimum bets . What is your opinion of these casino price increased bets ? The Slots are definite money grabbers with very little payback:o
Purplsmurf Posted March 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2014 I just read on a different post that craps was $5. Doesn't really matter to me, but my hubby loves craps. Did you happen to see what the 3card minimums were?
mcrcruiser Posted March 29, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 29, 2014 I just read on a different post that craps was $5. Doesn't really matter to me, but my hubby loves craps. Did you happen to see what the 3card minimums were? The poker 3 card was still $5 .However ,all the rest of the games were $10 minimum (didn't look at Roulette) .The balck jack tables were $10 ,$15 & $25 bets minimum . Craps at $5 mimimum is fine ;but $10 minimum is really pricy, when you think of the back number bets . Celebrity must think this is Monte Carlo & every one is a multi millionaire:eek:
mcrcruiser Posted March 29, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted March 29, 2014 If Celebrity keeps up this price increase they can kiss me good by .I will play craps in Las Vegas where the game is better to begin with;) . Craps is by far the best odds game on any cruise ship ;but ,$10 bets are greedy imo

mcrcruiser Posted March 29, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted March 29, 2014 Be optimistic! The higher your bet the higher your winnings! Optimism in a casino is a short road to going broke . Using money management skills on a craps table with a decent roll of numbers will make you money:D . however ,the point here is that on the Silhouette many people just didn't play because of the doubling cost of the bets

The Slots are definite money grabbers with very little payback:o As noted in the live/blog below, we just got off of the Solstice last month. Casinos, on land or at sea, are not really my "thing". BUT in regular casinos, such as what we have here in Central Ohio, there's a "battle" about the minimum pricing for such table games. Here at peak evening and weekend times, many of the Blackjack minimums are $25. Too, too high!!! They are cutting back some on that minimum pricing. BUT, table games are much more costly to staff and run. Trade-offs. They need to make money and use "supply and demand" to manage the crowds and profits. My solution and answer? Just skip it. Check out these postings for more info/background on this nice ship, its entertainment, food options, etc. THANKS! Enjoy! mcrcruiser Posted March 29, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted March 29, 2014 Terry in Ohio . Indian casinos do crazy things . Long before there were any thought of Indian Casinos Las Vegas gaming was well established .I personally sold many products as a mfgs rep to the hotels & Casinos in LV for well over 30 years . The management there knows the business inside & out & they get the little guy to bet because they don't try to rob them on the initial bets . They want volume & ultimately their percentage take works well .This is why certain Casino stocks are doing very well which now includes oriental casinos by vegas operators In reality I have won many times because I only play craps . This is where the odds are the best:D
JEDIKNIGHT Posted March 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 30, 2014 If there aren’t $5 blackjack tables, then I won’t play at all. Usually I like to start at 5..and then eventually I get to 10’s. If this is true DW will be pleased. No gambling for me, more time with her just hanging out. Less spending money on the ship. Good strategy x :)
bigeagle12 Posted March 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 30, 2014 On the Equinox in February they had one $6 blackjack table and one $5 single deck table. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Rare ghstudio Posted March 30, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 30, 2014 There are no fixed minimums....they are set on board based on their judgement of the passengers. We had $6 minimum blackjack on the infinity in the antarctic. On the transatlantic on the same ship, they started with $25 minumum tables...that lasted one night...the rest of the cruise was $5 or $10 tables. The casino only makes money when people bet....if the tables are empty, they aren't making money....so they lower the minimums.

mcrcruiser Posted March 30, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Even Bingo is way higher now Not only higher ;but the prize money is paltry /Imo a very bad investment to play bingo on a cruise ship .It definitely is the houses game:eek:
Rare ghstudio Posted March 30, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Even Bingo is way higher now The price of Bingo is rediculous....yet some love it. Best of luck to them :)
eclipse2011 Posted March 30, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 30, 2014 I have seem the minimums statrt at ten then drop to five on many tables including craps. This is on both silouhette and reflection. ariawoman Posted March 30, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Craps on the Summit in October was $5.00 minimum. If they raise it to 10 on the silhouette in May, I will be saving some money each night, thanks to Celebrity. :-) No way will I part with 10.00 minimum, 5 is hard enough! The Casino needs action to make money, and if the tables are empty, that wouldn't be in their best interest. Of course, if they get takers with a $10 minimum, then so be it. They may try for a day or two, but the action will dictate the minimum bet. With that said, as far as Celebrity goes, nothing would surprise me anymore. At any rate, I'm on Eclipse next week, and will be sure to report my observations while onboard.
swoonx Posted March 30, 2014 #18 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Usually I like to start at 5..and then eventually I get to 10’s. Same here. Well, I could manage the minimums of 10, but for me gambling is just having fun. Even if I'm good at BJ, you should not play this game to make big money. And if you lost some money, you paid for having a good time. I really look forward to 36 nights on Solstice and I like to play every night after dinner for some time. I will report how they handled the minimums.
blueboro Posted March 30, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 30, 2014 What we noticed was they start minimums on the high side and if no one bites they tend to be lowered. They were also lower at certain times of the day. I never gamble on a cruise but my brothers do. But I win at the buffet everytime.
