NCL Sun mini suite vs balcony

Sun mini suites are excellent. Large bathroom, large tub, separate dressing area, big balcony. And they are on the pool deck forward. There are not many of them on the Sun.

Don't forget the 2 mini suites aft each on 8' 9 & 10.

There are 24 on the NCL SUN Pool Deck - Deck 11

I had mini-suite 1010 NCL SUN SB Alaska this past July 2013.

Outstanding worth the few dollars more than a Balcony Cabin.

Remember these are not suites and do not get a butler or concierge !

We have had a front facing mini-suite and a midships mini-suite - both times on the Sun, and they were amazing. When we did a "cabin crawl" with the CC roll callers on our Meet&Greet on board, several of them mentioned that the mini-suites on the Sun were the best/largest mini-suites compared to the rest of the NCL fleet.

The front facing one even had a large balcony including a sunbed in addition to the regular two chairs and small table outside. That balcony was fantastic on portdays and while sailing in and out of the various ports, but quite windy when out at sea. The midships mini-suite had a balcony of more or less normal size compared to the balcony cabins.

Both mini-suites had plenty of room and was well worth the extra dollars compared to a regular balcony cabin.

Just an FYI. When we had a mini suite, I found the bathtub to be high and hard to get in and out of. If you have anyone that may have trouble with the height of it, you may want to stay with the balcony. (We were on the Jewel though, so it may be different?)

The bath tub in the Sun mini is a full size tub (bigger than my tub at home) as opposed to the smaller and narrow tubs in the other ships' minis. The sides don't appear as high as the others, but that may just be perception because of the tub size difference. In any case, they're very nice.

Those minis on the aft are HUGE with HUGE balconies. We were next door to one and were envious....

If you decide to not move up to a mini, you might want to consider one of the two foward facing balconies on the pool deck. They are sized like the aft minis but don't have the upgraded bath.

CORRECTION:

There are 26 mini-suites on (Pool) Deck 11 - 12 Port & 12 Starboard and 2 Forward.

And 2 each on Decks 8 9 & 10 Aft (Called Junior Suites) these have a tad bit more room than the mini-suites on Deck 11.

Total number for the NCL SUN is 32.

Offered an opportunity to reserve a Mini-Suite - go for it !

Beyond a doubt it is worth the few extra bucks for the space !

we are booked in 1201, for a Panama Cruise, wind in the front is a little strong on sea days but should be a great view during transit of canal. And warm enough also

This was our first chip we cruise on during a Alaska trip and it made us catch the bug of cruising

We loved our minisuite on the Sun. Great size room with lots of storage.

I do have to agree with the tub thing. The side walls are a bit high and if you have any trouble climbing in, then it will not suit you well but it is a great soaker tub if you like to do that kind of thing.

We were in the very first mini on the starboard side in 2011. The room was large with a big walk in closet and amazing bathroom. I do agree with the poster who said the tub was high. It was a high step for a shortie but I managed. I would rather have just a shower though. The sleeper couch was ok for an 18 year old or younger but wasn't huge and was rather hard. The balcony off this room wasn't overly large. It was big enough for 3 upright chairs barely. It was worth the extra $ because we had 3 people but if it was only 2 I would try for one of the forward or aft mini's instead. The balconies are larger. I love the Sun. Can't wait for next year in a forward PH.

Here's some photo's of our mini-suite on the Sun Cabin #1005. It was our 40th Anniversary so our kids had gotten the Anniversary Pkg. for us as you'll see in some of the pics.

We were on the Sun with Clay, his cabin was 1001, beautiful forward balcony. He is correct about the Aft Balconies, huge !! enjoy the pics.
