Badger171 Posted April 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Heading to Alaska this June. Do I need to take my passport every time I stop at a location? Or just when embarking?
Ashland Posted April 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic. We only needed to have our (passport) with us when doing an excursion in Skagway (WPRR) which involved Canada.
paul929207 Posted April 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2014 In most ports you will not have to carry your passport ashore. The ship's staff will make sure you are aware if your cruise stops in a port where you have to carry your passport.

Unless you are taking train excursion into Canada or some other tour into Canada leave your passport in the safe for all AK ports. TinCan782 Posted April 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Alaska is in the United States. As noted above, doing an excursion into Canada or, visiting Vancouver or Victoria, your passport will not be needed.

As noted above, doing an excursion into Canada or, visiting Vancouver or Victoria, your passport will not be needed. If the OP takes the white pass train from Skagway to Canada they WILL need a passport. US residents do need a passport to cross into Canada for that excursion and for some others as well.
