gr82cu2 Posted April 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2014 We have a 123 GO obc of $300 for our 10 night med cruise. We have prepaid gratuities (Celebrity Select dining so it was mandatory) and since it's so port intensive I don't see a lot of time sitting around in the bars. Can you use the OBC in the casino and if yes, how do you do that? Thanks in advance!

If you expect to play at any of the gaming tables, present your seapass card, and chips can be charged to your account, again with a 5% surcharge. Hope this helps ! gordiej Posted April 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) While you can take cash out of your shipboard account in the casino, I'm pretty sure that they will NOT let you use any onboard credit - at least I'm pretty sure I remember reading that very recently. Treat yourself to some spa services, a nice bottle of wine at dinner (something better than what they sell by the glass), or a couple of specialty restaurants. Or maybe buy some souvenirs in the shops. ETA: This language is in the T&Cs of the Amex Platinum program, which includes an OBC for some cabin categories. I guess it's possible this is specific to the Amex OBC, and may not apply to other sources of OBCs. "Credits cannot be used for casino charges and gratuities." Their OBC was from Celebrity so getting $ from casino is an option. How about a speciality coffee or tea in the morning? Fresh squeezed OJ with breakfast or bottled water to take on shore for those ports days.

ClaudiaB Posted April 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2014 I purchased a nice bag in one of the shops on the last night when we realized we had $100 leftover.
polySeraph Posted April 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2014 We have a similar situation. We chose the gratuities option for the 123Go promotion and then chose Select Dining - so we will be prepaying gratuities. Additionally we have received more OBC from our travel agent. We have earmarked some of it, but there will probably have some left over. If we have a mixture of refundable and non-refundable OBC, which will Celebrity use first? Is it possible to use OBC as a deposit on a future cruise? If there is refundable OBC left over, how does Celebrity refund the unused portion? You cannot use remaining OBC for a future cruise. You are expected to make the cruise deposit with a credit card. 2. Refundable and Non-Refundable OBC : Celebrity applies non-refundable OBC first, which is very fair to guests. 3. Left over REFUNDABLE OBC : If you have any "refundable" OBC remaning, it's credited back to the credit card given at check-in. I highly recommend clarifying which of your OBC's are refundable, and which are not, with your TA. I'd also confirm this with Guest Relations once onboard. The best time to do this, is on day 2 or 3 of your sailing. Hope this is helpful !

Not so. In nearly all instances, OBC can be cashed out in the casino, with the 5% surcharge.

cocker2 Posted June 2, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 2, 2014 This is not about OBC please forgive me for changing track. One of my future fellow cruisers wants to know if he can change £ into $ on board to use in our Slot Pull. I wonder if Host Andy has an answer. Thanks in advance. Cruise a holic Posted June 2, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 2, 2014 We have a 123 GO obc of $300 for our 10 night med cruise. Can you use the OBC in the casino and if yes, how do you do that? Thanks in advance! I would urge you to reconsider the drink package. While you aren't" sitting at bars all day", your bar tab quickly adds up with just two or three alcoholic drinks a day. In addition, the package includes bottled water, juices, speciality coffees, and glasses of wine which can also add up. Enjoy your cruise.

Hi Andy: What some don't realize is that OBC is real money. You can just pay the 5% at the casino and put the cash into your pocket. On a related matter: The 5% charge is being waived for Zenith members. Some bit of inconsistency from ship to ship. I had it waived twice and not waived once.
