Drink Package-how did you like it?

Recommended Posts

We wanted to splurge this one cruise and see how it went. I wanted to be able to try a bunch of different drinks and not worry about the cost. I don't think I can drink that many drinks a day EVERY DAY to make it worth. Too bad they won't let you pick which days you want the package and which days you don't and charge just for those days.

We sailed a 6 night on Indy for New Years, both of us had the Premium pkg. You can't pick and chose days but you can purchase for a minimum of the last four days (which included NYE! New Years Day and a sea day for us), I didn't purchase mine til the 2nd day of the cruise. We both definitely got our money's worth and then some :-) Even on port days we are always back a couple of hours before Sailaway and enjoyed a drink or two on the pool deck before dinner, then wine with dinner, and a few drinks during the evenings while visiting the various shows and lounges. Also took bottled water back to the stateroom at night and bottles when going ashore. As other ppl said, we were more inclined to try different cocktails without worrying about paying for a drink we didn't like or finish.

Our opinion, RCL's drink pkge. is a little over priced for what you get!

You decide!

an example,,,

MSC Allegrissimo Adult=$44. a day (unlimited)

RCL Premium Package=$55. a day (unlimited)

NCL Ultimate Beverage Package=$54 a day (unlimited)

Carnival My Awesome Bar Program=$49.50 a day (15 drink max)

I dont think we will be getting the drink packages....my husband said he may get the one that includes the beer and wine, but if we both had the drink package that would be nearly if not more than $1000 for our 10 day cruise...OUCH

does anyone know if they have mikes hard lemonade, Smirnoff's, or twisted teas that can be purchased with the beer and wine package?

It's a great deal, if you drink a variety of beverages. The soda card is $6.50 a day, so that brings the break even point to $48.50. Throw in a few coffees and bottle water and break even could be four alcoholic drinks away. You can to your own wine flight by ordering 3 glasses of wine in the slotted time. You don't have to finish them. Enjoy!

Not sure why people say your probably not get to the 5-6 drink daily to break even with port days.

Usually back on board in time to enjoy a couple of drinks before dinner, especially Martini's, then a couple with dinner, then at least a couple or more if you go to the shows.

Even port days I will have bailey's with my coffee at breakfast.

That's about $60-$65 without much effort or over indulging.

8 drinks in a 14 hour day IMHO is very doable.

I concur!

My DH only drinks beer and I like everything from beer, to DOD, to wine so the drink pkgs have worked very well for us.

We hit the pool about 9:30 AM and hang till 2:30-3:00PM. During that time we enjoy a few cocktails...and lots of water. A glass or two of wine w/ dinner then maybe a cocktail or two in the casino at night.......so yes, 8 drinks in a

14 hr day is completely doable....especially because we usually don't get off the ship till disembarkment!!!

We work hard and save all year for this week so for us the drink pkg allows us to budget in the specific amount for alcohol and then I only have to fret over watching my online acct. for jewelry purchases!!!! ;)

Happy sailing and be safe.

Not to sound cheapy but how closely would RC monitor sharing of one premium package? Could I order a frozen drink for my wife at the bar, give it to her then hit the poolside waiter for my drink the next time he/she walks by? Not that I would do that all the time and my wife would have a limited number of drinks on her account.

Just get the royal replenish package if she likes frozen drinks

I'm debating about getting the $55 a day drink package. It sounds so convenient no signing, no hauling water & soda on board. Not sure if I would spend $55 a day. Would be interested in hearing about your experience. And can you use it on a coffee liquor after dinner drink?

It dosen't take much to put you at $55 plus gratuity. Having said this, it works great for us in the Caribbean, but the Mediterrean cruise not so much. A 5 port cruise in seven days, I don't think the DW spent her daily totals. I did though.

If you do the math, it works out pretty easy. But you would most like be required to have at least 5 alcohol drinks per day for 7 days. If this is something that you plan to do and can handle, I say go for it.

Except you do sound "cheapy". This is the reason these things go up in price and you cruel it for others. Isn't this fraud?

Coffees are not included in the Premium package. You have to get the Ultimate package which incorporates the Royal Replenish, to get coffees.
