Aqua class Champagne

Booked in Aqua class. Is it possible to switch out for a bottle of another type of wine? Like a merlot?:D

You can switch but might be required to pay the difference in price. Largely depends on the whim of the person you ask.

It varies by cruise.

We've found the best way to exchange it was to go to dinner the first night and ask the sommelier if you could exchange it for another bottle of wine or get a credit towards a bottle of wine (in the area of $28). They will likely say yes, bring it with you the next night.

we have also given the room steward an advance $10 tip with our request that he change the sparkling wine for red or white wine. This used to work well, but I now recommend just doing the sommelier request bit.

Occasionally you will find that ship where they way...that's what you get...take it or leave it. That's only happened to us once and a stop and after I mentioned it to the hotel manager at the captain's club event, the sparkling wine miraculously changed to red wine.

Our trick is to never ask on the first night. We buy a bottle (or 2) for the table every night, and usually ask on the 3rd night. 2 years in a row, the sommelier didn't hesitate, and we just paid the difference in the bottles (2 couples, we each swapped on separate nights). We did ask the night before we brought the bottle with us. Incidentally, we don't extra" tip our sommelier until the end of the cruise, and still haven't had a problem with the request.

Are there options for those that don't drink alcohol?

Yes they are very happy to exchange for soda or juice but don'e expect to get a like for like in price terms

San pelligrino was a good swap for us as we always end up not drinking the fizzy ine

We have tried unsuccessfully on a couple of cruises and then just gave up. Now I get some orange juice to make mimosa s to drink on balcony.

Great idea........now I know what we will do woth it. Be great as our first full day is a sea day!

Yes, but they seriously don't like to do it and they generally give you somewhat of a hard time. You usually have to persist.

I do it every cruise and have never been given a hard time. They'll give a credit and it's ranged between $18 and $32.

We've never had a problem trading our champagne for wine by following the above. On our last cruise we received a $30 credit toward a wine of our choice.

Over the years we have left it un opened and given it away to someone else. Last time my DH took it down to Customer Service and told then he wanted another wine, we paid the difference. It is simply a sparkling white wine bottled with Celebrity's label, not worth drinking.

Give it to us then.... :p

Seriously, when we've asked the wine steward/sommelier during our first night or two... we've always been accommodated.

We've also enjoyed it , the suite level stuff is okay.... a bit better vintage than the CC stuff, but it's not the quality of the champagne I just bought for Joni's 33rd anniversary tomorrow... :p

On our last three cruises this past year, we got a $28 credit towards a bottle of wine from the sommellier and on the third, he exchanged it for a bottle of the house red or white at no charge.

At one time you could give it to the crew. Is this still the case? We always leave it in the room at the end of the cruise with a envelope (extra tip). I hope they are able to take it with them to their cabin. I'll be disappointed to hear they can't take it with them. :(

We have also had mimosa's with fellow guests in the morning. OJ makes it a bit better in taste. :D Still...it's a nice touch to have it iced waiting in the room for your arrival.

Booked in Aqua class too. Have purchased a drink package.

If you are not allowed to give to a cabin steward, how one can get a credit for that sparkling wine?

Thanks.

you can only get a credit towards another bottle of wine....and that's not a right, it's a favor being done by a wine steward.

You can't just get an on board credit for the bottle....just like you can't turn in the undrunk bottles of water in your aqua class cabin for a credit.

We've had the drink pkg on our last two cruises in cc and asked the cabin steward if he could have the bottle of sparkling wine that came with the cabin. The answer was "no". I then asked if they re-issue the bottles and he said "yes happens quite often", I assume because so many people have the drink pkg. We asked and asked and couldn't find anyone who wanted the bottles.

We also had two free drink coupons from winning tournaments in the casino and couldn't give those away either! The drink pkgs sure have changed things!

I didn't realize you could get a non alcoholic beverage in exchange. In the past I have always mentioned we couldn't drink alcohol to the steward or butler and they never said anything about changing it for soda etc. Has anyone done that?
