Interested to hear what RC or other items fellow cruisers collect (hoard) on their travels

DD likes the RC spoons and RC drink cups

DW magnets and shot glasses ( always have fun packing those in shoes )

I have a few sets (4 each) of drink coasters with spinning crown and anchor logos from the 1970's. I have a few hurricane cocktail glasses, late 1980's vintage. A few differnt ship mugs. I'm sure if I dig and dig I will come up with playing cards and passenger manifest from back in the days when they used to give you those things for free.

This is a side question, hope you don't mind :)

You mention casino chips, can you tell us what the chips are on RC eg, $1, $5, etc. and also the minimum stake on each play. I've heard both $1 and $5 so not sure which.

Also if it is $5 can you split that over the bet so each chip is $1 but making a $5 bet in total over the table. I ask this because when we went on one of the casino boats whist in Florida they allowed bets that way.

Not sure if I've explained this properly, hope you follow me :) we just bet for a bit of fun and want our money to spread as wide as poss.

I also can't bear to throw away my copies of the Cruise Compass. :)

I purchase the key chain and coffee mug of each ship and also the Caribbean calendar. I don't use the coffee mugs, it just a collection that I have on display. I'm a ball cap person, so I purchase a ball cap with the name of the island of each port we stop at. :cool:

I looked again; I have some mugs and some of the colored after dinner shot glasses. I also have Carnival hurricane glasses, princess and celebrity mugs, and princess shot glasses. Also some HAL tiles and coasters.

I still have the book they gave out on Enchantment in its inaugural year, along with a keychain that my cabin mates and I won in the karaoke contest on that same cruise. I gave all of my souvenir glasses away. If I look real hard, I'm sure I still have my Compasses and a menu book with autographs and phone numbers of all of the people I met onboard. I've been on 3 RC cruises and believe that this was the best of them all.

I collect: a magnet of each ship, as well as a magnet from each port we visit.

a post card from the ship, and a post card from each island

a miniature ship Christmas Tree ornament

 

I make scrapbooks for each cruise. I collect coasters, napkins, or anything with the RCI logo. I save all copies of the cruise compass, as well as various handouts and maps I pick up along the way.

I too have an RCI ship logo coffee mug collection - one from each different ship we've been on dating back to Sovereign 1992 - that I have on a display shelf in my home-based office.

 

So far I have twelve different ship mugs and this October will be thirteen.

 

We also have most of the different ship Christmas tree ornaments as well that my wife collects.

DH always gets a shirt with ship logo....Mariner, Freedom, Allure.

 

I always get Tree ornament, post card, and keep any drink souvinier logo glasses and drink swivel straws, or stirrers.

I work at our church rummage sale and every year we get ship logo items from shirts, mugs, drink of the day glasses , etc.

A lot of people think it is a good idea while onboard & then get home & find they have no real use for these items.

Probably 50 cents for a glass or mug, $1 or $2 for a shirt

Certainly there is a bunch of souvenirs and cruise items gathered on board that may end up there or in the trash, but specific items that are collectibles to someone wouldn't end up at a church rummage sale.

 

In our case as mentioned before, my logo mugs purchased on each different ship we sail on is displayed in my home-based office along with sports memorabilia and other personal collectibles I have. And my wife hangs the different ship ornaments - along with many other unique and personal ornaments - on our Christmas trees each year.

We bought a few of those ship models a few years ago when they cost around $20=$25.

Last cruise they were charging $40 and they are now smaller..

That's was the end of that...

My daughter scored an Explorer model ship today at a yard sale for $2.00. She was looking at another item when her little boys got very exited and started saying cruise ship, cruise ship. So she took a look and saw it was a Royal ship then realized it was Explorer which we all sailed on in April. :)

Good advice. I picked up this weekend 10 RCI shot glasses (various styles), 2 Celebrity Summit inaugural season coffee mugs, a book on Norwegian Epic, a Princess Book on 50 Bucket List trips to take as well as souvenir glassware from the Bahamas and St. Croix.

 

I had change from a $5 bill.

A little off subject, but as I was sorting belongings from the home of a member who had recently died for our church rummage sale, I came across a 50th anniversary plate from a church he had belonged to in another area.

 

Coincidentally, we have good friends who now live in Ocala but belonged to that church for 20 years, long after the anniversary. They were thrilled when we purchased the plate and gave it to them.

 

I can see the same kind of serendipity happening with cruise souvenirs, and it would make someone's day!
