Diamond and Up Drink Vouchers - List of Ships Using them

Recommended Posts

We got the email saying the Freedom would be using the vouchers on our cruise June 29th.

Does anyone have the list of allowed drinks for D at the bars? I know basic wine, beer but wonder what mixed drinks.

Is the list different for CL? We will be D+ the 4th day of this cruise. Yes, I know it won't be official until our next cruise but I am just curious now.

Any suggestions on how to tip servers in the lounges for the daily 3 free drinks. I guess cash but can you ask for a barslip where you can fill in a tip to be charged to your seapass?

That should work. Some do that when they get drinks as part of the unlimited drink packages.

Any other Diamond Level members get an email from RCCL about some new benefits? Here is the crux of it:

Your SeaPass Card will be pre-loaded with three complimentary drink vouchers for each night of the sailing, which can be used during nightly lounge hours. Toast your way around the ship, on us!

Although we booked the Oasis about 2 wks. before our friend, we have been diamond members for some yrs. and I believe he only recently reached Diamond level, we haven't received such an email though we do rec'v. promotions etc. from them.

Just wondering if ALL of us Diamond Members will get this? Further on it mentions RCCL wants to roll this out fleet wide within the next few months.

There is another thread going on this issue that you might want to check out. We are Diamond and got the email.

I'm attaching two thumbnails. I think the menu with house champagne is probably correct. I think they substituted that for the Dazante Pinot Grigio.

Geeeze Orville, take it easy there!!!!

Why don't you just call C&A and ask them yourself rather than jumping all over the posters on here.

An old saying:

"you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"

Simple really...the OP started a simple thread asking for specific information, and like almost every thread on CC, it quickly wandered completely off the reservation. The list the OP asked people to populate disappeared more than three pages ago, and the person I responded to was more concerned (her post not mine) with pointing out the differences between a Diamond Lounge and a Diamond event. I came here for useful information on when my sailings might get the new program, but after three pages wading through how to tip, how to use a coupon in the theater, the demise of Diamond clubs, and innumerable other completely tangential side trips, I would have expected someone - anyone - to actually respond to the OP's original request - that the thread was for the purpose of populating a list with dates.

For example (your post): Perhaps you can enlighten me how "It's a shame they removed the Dazante. It's a nice Pinot Grigio! I'm glad "La Terrible" Cabernet is gone. Wonder how the new one is?" is relevant to when a ship gets the new program?

Considering that the last time the singular purpose of this thread was even mentioned was three pages ago, does anyone have any updates to add to the list????

Actually, it is all "fake information."

The only dates posted are those quoted in letters/emails from RC to certain/some cruisers. They are all "promised dates" in the future.

Not one of them is an actual experience.

And the list that you quoted wasn't even put up by the original poster, but by a subsequent poster who thought that it would be a good idea. The OP just said, let's report which ships "have moved" to the voucher system.

The answer so far is NONE.

So, no one's post is any more tangential than anyone else's.

Well, actually, the two people chatting about the weather in South Carolina are pretty irrelevant. :D

As was suggested, CHILL OUT.

This is how I handle tipping of bar servers in the CL or DL and this is how I'll handle it in a bar, if we choose to go to a bar rather than one of the lounges. I tip the first server to take my order $5. If they are the only server, when we leave for dinner, I give them another $5. If another server comes over to ask about drinks, they get the second tip, because the first person didn't come back. That is a very unusual situation. Usually by the second night, when we walk into the lounge the drinks are heading our way. We don't drink a lot, usually one or 2 before dinner. After dinner we might stop back for another drink, but that is rare. We do tip our servers, and what you tip is up to you. On the last night of the cruise we hand out additional cash tips for excellent service. Tipping is a very personal and individual choice. If someone is doing a job that I would never even attempt... I tend to tip them well.

Yes, I do understand that it's going to be rolled out on various ships at different times, but apparently it will be going on on the Oasis when we sail on her w/our friend who got the email announcment.

panoramaofthepast, I did a search before posting my original question and didn't come up with anything. Just tried again, and although there are a lot of posts about various levels and benefits on various cruiselines, I didn't see any particularly pertaining to this issue. (Guess my topic phraseology isn't working.) Can you please post the link on here or even just the number of the thread starter's original post and which board (RCCL's?) it is on so that I and others can find it?

Thanks a bunch!

Yep, post #90 was informative as all get out:rolleyes:

Typo: it was post #93. (But, I have a feeling you already knew that.)

So in short, you have nothing constructive to add to the Original Post, only an "end date" quoted to you by a C&A rep. We all know how accurate their information is. He was reading word-for-word the email announcement he received from Corporatate, and 9/14/14 was a hard date according to his internal announcement.

Next time you're on the phone with your source, can you find out when the change will be implemented on Enchantment? We're on her in four weeks, and it would be really nice if you could tell us whether we will have coupons. I asked him if there was a rollout schedule, but he said there was none.(Which is essentially the reason why the OP posted in the first place - so people cruising before some mythological "fall roll-out" actually was completed would have some idea what to expect when they boarded.)

So, having cleared that up, I hope you are in a better mood the next time you post.

Hi Maria, I will copy and paste the email I received this week from Crown and Anchor. It appears people are receiving notice at staggered timing. Some last week, some this week, I am sure more to come in the future. I have read that RCI plans to have roll out complete on ALL ships fleet wide by mid-September 2014. If your sailing is after mid September you will 99.99% have this additional benefit. I do not know the roll out schedule for ships before then but I believe they are starting this month.

YOUR ONBOARD LOUNGE BENEFITS JUST GOT BETTER

We are excited to introduce an expanded Crown & Anchor Society benefit for you during your upcoming cruise! In addition to the nightly receptions at the Diamond Lounge and the Concierge Lounge (for our Diamond Plus and Pinnacle guests), you now have the flexibility to enjoy happy hour at a wide variety of bars onboard.

Your SeaPass Card will be pre-loaded with three complimentary drink vouchers for each night of the sailing, which can be used during nightly lounge hours. Toast your way around the ship, on us!

This expanded benefit will be slowly rolled out across the entire fleet by Fall. Kindly note, drinks vouchers are not valid in the main dining room, the Windjammer Café or in any of our specialty restaurants, and expire daily.*

TERMS & CONDITIONS

*The SeaPass card of each eligible Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club member will be loaded with three (3) drink vouchers for each night of the sailing. Vouchers expire daily. Drinks vouchers are not valid in the main dining room, the Windjammer Café or in our specialty restaurants.

We'll be on the Oasis in Feb. and are Diamond members. A friend sailing w/us rec'd. the email but we have not.

Also, w/regard to someone's comment about not getting drinks they wanted on the Legend, I will 2nd that. They held the Diamond Lounge in a lounge/showroom and the service was very spotty while drink quality was even more spotty! (But I guess this thread isn't about the service.)

Sounds like a really good thing if it ends up going like we all hope it will!

Hi Jared! (Nice to hear from someone I "know"!) That is the exact same email our friend got. Glad to hear everyone will get the new benefits! I can hardly believe they are going to do that and wonder what made them decide it would be a good thing? Seems it would cut into liquor profits.(Perhaps they want to eventually phase out the Diamond and up lounges but I hope not!) Just hope there aren't a bunch of restrictions on the types of drinks (like there seemed to be in the Legend Diamond Lounge on our sailing).

The phrase "Diamond and Up Drink Voucher" did work for the search. Thanks panoramaofthepast!

I really think there was just a lot of pressure from multi-booking / multi-generational type cruisers where some family members are Diamond or above and others are not (new cruisers) and they probably get a lot of "I want to enjoy my benefits, but to do so I have to separate from my party" type of feedback.

So now in addition to the atmosphere of the lounge, we've all got additional choices. I think it will be great. One night at the pool bar before dinner, enjoying a sunset outdoors, one night at the schooner bar, one night here or there; mixing it up. I think it will create a whole new experience for Diamond and above who had gotten used to hanging out in set lounges, will make the ship feel more alive and put more people in more different venues. Additionally the members that do not get the perks are probably more likely to buy drinks to socialize with those that do get the drinks.

I guess it's possible Diamond Lounges will be for D+ and up, but I doubt it. The pushback would be enormous. I think if they maintain this as an added benefit it truly is a great plus.
