Celebrity Virgins Review

Just back from our first ever Celebrity cruise, - 11 nights in the med on Silhouette. Having read some of the 'stuff' on here I had some concerns about what we might find and how we might be treated.

This was also our first 'big ship' cruise and I wondered how we would cope with being couped up with nearly 3,000 other people in a big tin box!

Well, we had a great time and met some wonderful people. The crew were truly excellent and we were treated in a very friendly, polite manner. Many laughs were had with some incredibly hard working people.

Food was generally very good. Specialist restaurants were in our opinion fantastic quality (Lawn Grill - best steak I've ever had!) with Qusine our number 1. Oceanview could be variable but that can of course depend on what you choose! MDR was very good with great service.

Classic package worked out fine for us with a very friendly barman at the Sunset looking after us 'above and beyond'. We preferred this bar rather than the somewhat darker inside bars although Martini was fun. Never even got to Cellarmasters despite being a beer fan but in all honesty didn't feel like I'd missed anything significant.

The ship seemed to simply swallow people and at no stage did we feel crowded or overwhelmed by fellow cruisers. We loved the layout and 'feel' of the ship and liked the design and decor.

Only (minor) complaint was as deck 6 forward we could hear the bass thump from the theatre. We regard this as a learning point for any future cruise and will look to move higer up or further back.

Didn't speak to anyone with other than positive things to say about the boat/crew.

Would we do it again? Absolutely. Future plans will prevent anything in the immediate future but we will undoubtedly be back!

How funny!

We did the silhouette for our very first cruise dec 2012 and absolutely loved the whole experience... So much so we have done 2 x eclipse cruise since and have another 4 solstice class cruises on the books over the next 2 years! 😎

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the moaners & wingers on here as I think some people are really not happy unless they are complaining about something!! As for your experience I would say that's the opinion of 99.9% of the people that try celebrity for the first time!! It truly is a great company with amazing ships & fantastic crew and altogether makes for a great cruise holiday for most!

Our next cruise is in October on the equinox and with 3 celebrity's cruises under our belt I can assure you we are really looking forward to the whole experience again... Only 3&1/2 months to go!! 😀

It really makes one wonder what cruise these whiners could possibly have been on. I've spent a lot of time on silhouette and always had a fabulous time as have all of my cruising friends. We joke that the only thing we could find to complain about was not enough potato chips at cocktail time!!

Glad you had the same great experience!

Thank you for posting. Posts like yours are so encouraging for new people who sometimes get frightened by the negative posts on here.

I hope it won't be too long till you are back again to enjoy another cruise.

Having surfed the boards on CC for a number of years it is alway great to read the thoughts of a fellow member when they come back and tell us about their first sailing on a different line. Many do not, so Thank You very very much for taking the time to dispel thoughts of short comings you had from reading before your sailing. Then we all have the power to make a vacation whatever we want it to be! Wonderful you had a great vacation!:)

Thanks for your review! We're doing our first Celebrity Cruise next month. We're very easygoing & expect we'll enjoy ourselves, but still, its its nice to read some positive things.
