Just back from the Sensation. This was my first Carnival cruise and I liked it very much. Great people and lots of fun! I have been on two Royal Caribbean cruises and while I wouldn't call them snooty, I think their clientele are a bit more reserved. ;-)

You all know this, but I will confirm that the Sensation shows signs that she is older, but the staff is excellent and everything is quite clean and well maintained. The food was pretty good and you can't beat it for the price.

I was struck by a few things in the casino that were a bit inconsistent, but not necessarily bad. If you charge chips at a table to your Sail and Sign card they charge you 3%. However, if you do it at a slot machine there is no fee. You can then go over to the cashier, withdrawl your money and go sit at a table. This might have been a fluke, but I check my account several times and I was never charged a fee.

The second thing I found interesting was that if you played blackjack at the electronic table there was a counter that, over time, filled up and got you a free drink...any drink. I was playing $5/hand and this thing was fillig up every 20 minutes or so. I did not see this occur at the regular tables or at least no one told me about it. I will say though that on the last night at sea, the pit boss bought the entire blackjack table a round of drinks. :D

That's it and looking forward to our Pride trip in two weeks. That one will be with three kids under 9, so not much casino, but lots of kid stuff to review.

Cheers and cruise on!

Sensation was my first Carnival ship/cruise wayyyyyy back in 2000. Back then she did 7 day cruises out of Tampa. While it was not my first cruise, (sailed another line in 1999), she was my second cruise, but also my first solo cruise. Had one fantastic cruise, and have been on Carnival ships 4 time since and going again on one in Nov. I dont play at the tables in the casino, but do play a bit at the slots, and on that cruise, I won 600.00 on a slot machine on the last night, and that was roughly the cost of my cruise, so I was a happy camper. I have so many wonderful memories of that ship and that cruise. :)
