angelwingsflys Posted July 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Hi everyone, I have my first cruise on Celebrity coming up in a few months .Have booked another for Feb next year. I have done several cruises on Princess and P&O (18). I love cruising and I know that I am addicted.. Any hints or perks that you would like to share with me ? things that are available on Celebrity ? But this will be my first family cruise -the plan is they will love the cruise so much that I can get them addicted to it too. Details : Remembering none of them have ever been on a cruise ship at all . My son and his wife and my little Grandson (4 years ). Inside cabin My daughter and her husband and my other little grandson (3).inside cabin. Separate ones for the grandsons . What sort of things can I set up in a little gift baskets for each of them ? Any suggestions.? Is there anything on the Celebrity (Century) that I need to know, to assist me in mission ? Thanks Deb
Rare cruisestitch Posted July 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic Look at the Family Cruising board for ideas of things to do with the grandchildren. Also be sure to sign up for the Roll Call for your cruise to meet others who will be cruising with you. Lurk a while and you will see lots of tips for your cruise. Also check out the Destinations/Ports of Call boards for more ideas.
dorisis Posted July 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Don't over plan. Let each family choose the activities they would enjoy and meet for dinner to discuss the day and the plans for the next day,
fatbaldbloke Posted July 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) Welcome Deb We tried other cruises but after going down to Antarctica last year with Celebrity we were hooked. Sure we have little niggles but they aren't even worth thinking about if I'm honest. As someone else said just lurk awhile & you'll soon pick up lots of tips on here. phoenix_dream Posted July 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2014 In re-reading the post it looks like the OP is new to Celebrity, but not new to cruising or to Cruise Critic. Can you be a little more specific as to what you want to know? There is a ton of information on these boards that can be searched, as you know as a long time Cruise Critic poster. But we would be more than happy to help answer questions if you could tell us a little more about what exactly it is you would like to know. Welcome to Celebrity - you will love it:)
wallie5446 Posted July 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Is there anything on the Celebrity (Century) that I need to know, Thanks Deb Welcome to Celebrity Deb. We sailed the Century in '96 & '98, so it has changed a bit and is in her farewell year:( We have sailed 7 diff lines, Celebrity is our first choice. We were on the Ruby in 2012, the Reflection last yr. You will find Celebrity very much like your previous cruises as far as the activities on the ship. The difference, at least for us, is in the presentation and overall quality of the product, and the way it is presented by X. Have a wonderful time with the family, you know they will be hooked! Welcome to Celebrity - you will love it:) Hi phoenix_dream ,you are correct only new to the Celebrity Line ,but not for cruising -I love to cruise myself. I just wanted suggestions to make the cruise memorable for my children and grandchildren, things like the ice cream and special little things that Celebrity has to offer ,and an assortment of different things to give them in the gift baskets .(I am pretty certain that I am going to love this cruise ,no matter what .I am spoiling myself this cruise ,am doing something I never thought I would do -living life whilst I still can ,doing things I had only dreamed about, so have booked a suite for the first time in my life ,all to myself ,but I am thinking that I will have lots of visits from the family . Rare ladylemondrop Posted July 18, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Wow you are going to have a fantastic time! What a lovely cabin... the kdis will enjoy the space you have I am sure! The baskets is a lovely idea - how about some cards for the kids (in UK we play Happy Families or Snap - card games for kids) maybe a disposable camera, candy, crayons etc so they can amuse themselves a while in the cabin if needed! Binoculars is always a great idea on a ship too... I have some great photos and tips about travelling with kids on cruises on my blog - www.mybigfatcruise.com I agree with previous posters advice about not planning too much and meeting at mealtimes. have a great time! miched Posted July 18, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 18, 2014 If you sailed many times on Princess you will find that Celebrity has many similarities. There may be a few differences but still basically the same. All ships have the same basic layout. If you knew your way around a Princess ship you will not have ant problems on Celebrity. Cruise on 🍸🚢🇺🇸🌅

Jo and Rob Posted July 19, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) You will love Celebrity I am sure. On our first Celebrity cruise I did a LIVE FROM with loads of tips, 30 second video clips and photographs of the food. You may find this useful to get a feel of Celebrity. Here is a link. http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1454387&highlight=jo+s+tip I tried to do a "Jo's tips" entry throughout the posts (they will appear bright red as this is how I found the thread using the search forum facility) which could be particularly handy for the non cruisers in your family but also may help you as you are new to Celebrity. Hi Jo:)...I remember your fabulous review and looking forward to reading about your upcoming cruise:D To the original poster......good advice from previous posters about not overplanning;)......I have sailed Century many times. She is much smaller than all the new "mega ships" and has her own style. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time.

Hi We are also new to Celebrity after having sailed with Azamara and Oceania previously. I was interested in the replies to the original post and then discovered your wonderful videos and postings. Many many thanks for doing this. A huge daily committment. We are sailing on Millenium in November and have read many negative reviews in this site for Asia cruises. Im hoping we have the same enjoyable experience as yourselves. Thanks again Jen
