Review of Chef's Table on Allure of the Seas

Recommended Posts

There are so many wonderful reviews on this site having to do with every aspect of cruising. Normally, I don't feel I can add anything in a review that hasn't been said or shown (through some fantastic photos from some of you) by someone else already. I personally like doing food reviews, and love the food porn often seen here at Cruise Critic. One thing I've realized however, is that I have yet to see a detailed review of Chef's Table, especially one with any photos of the food. I recently sailed Allure of the Seas and did such a review. I thought I'd share it with everyone. I apologize for the lack of interior photos of the dining area. I just didn't want to disrupt anyone's dining experience.

What a great Chef's Table review - just like being there.

We were on the Oasis back in 2010 and did the "then new" Chef's Table.

I am a Gentleman Jack, meat and potatoes guy but really enjoyed trying "new" things to eat.............and it tasted good - and won't of into the presentation.

We were kept interested by the Head Chef as he explained how each course was created.

It was a fun evening and yes - it is worth the cost..............we are on the Allure in April 2016 amd will be sure to take advantage of the Chef's Table again.

As a post script - we were on Celebrity Infinity last year and did their version of a Chef Table. It was actually done in the galley - where Chef's a Tables usually are done I am told - it didn't come near the experience Royal has put together.

Personally, I can find something of value in almost any review, so given the blog you did, you may be selling yourself short! I did enjoy the review even though I know I will never try the Chef's table, it was an enlightening and interesting review.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful words and pictures! I've done a Chef's Table on two other cruise lines, but I haven't done it on Royal Caribbean yet. We have a reservation for it on the Oasis, and your review really helped me see what kind of evening we're going to have!:)

Thanks for the review. We will be on the Allure on 8/31 and I was looking forward to this amazing dinner. My heart sank when you said that from the Concierge Lounge you went up a flight of steps to get to the dinner... I am in a wheelchair. Do you think there may have been an alternate way to get into the dining area?

I didn't see for my own eyes, but folks on the internet claim you can get up there from a service elevator that the staff use. I would advise contacting Royal Caribbean before you leave for the cruise to confirm this. It makes sense, as I believe any passenger location would have to have access for anyone in a wheelchair. Hope that helps.

Great review! Unfortunately, for reasons that are unclear, Chef's Table does not seem to appear as an option for pre-booking on my cruise planner for my upcoming Allure cruise. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, we sail on October 5th and Chef's Table does not appear in my Pre Cruise Planner either. I did pre book 150 Central Park. Anyone know why Chef's Table is not available this way?

Chef's Table does not come up in the drop down menu under dining on my Quantum Cruise Planner either, but if you click on 'all dining' it brings up all venues in another window for me and might work.

I've tried that and it doesn't appear there either.

Great review. I was on the Allure earlier on in July. I enjoyed the Chef's Table experience much more than 150 Central Park. I thought the service was better, the food just as tasty and the interaction between the Chef and fellow passengers really made it a night to remember. I will be on the Allure again in 2015 and I will book the Chef's Table again; this time for our family of 8!

Superb review....well done.

We did this on the Oasis, but with a different menu, although the wines sound familiar.

Perfect diner, with equally perfect company.

Ours was a snip at $75. High class dining at low prices :)

The Chef and Somelier very professional.

Would do it again, and again.

Thank you so much for the review. I didn't realize that the cookbook was included. Are many (any) of the recipes in there?

I don't think the cookbook had any recipes from this dinner, as I'm sure those meals might change often. I'll try to check later to see for sure. It was a recipe book of combined dishes from all of Royal's ships, and did include many dishes I have tried while cruising. The book itself changes as well, and I believe it is usually the current cookbook that the ships are selling at any given time (you know, it's the one displayed as you walk into certain specialty restaurants). The last time I attended Chef's Table two years ago I received a different cookbook. Go to the dinner for the food and experience, count the cookbook as a bonus. The meal is worth the price without the book.

For those of you who want to pre-schedule the Chef's Table, call the 866-562-7625 number in the cruise planning area of the web site. They will help you get scheduled for it. For some reason, it does not show up online.
