Rudyard Posted July 29, 2014 #26 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I thought it was "OK", but not the Alpha and Omega of desserts that some people make it out to be.
Halya50 Posted July 29, 2014 #27 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Tried it once, not for me, also don't know why all the fuss over it. I love the cream brulee.
Rh2458 Posted July 29, 2014 #28 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Ok, there has to be one in every crowd who spoils all the fun. Love it, and I have excellent taste buds. Considering how popular the dessert is on Carnival, and the fact it's at every meal leads me to believe those that don't like it are actually the ones with the warped taste buds:D
cruisingbajan Posted July 29, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Finally tried it last cruise. Was NOT impressed...and I usually love anything chocolate. What is it about this particular dessert that makes people go ga-ga? Because I don't get it. It was ok..but nothing to write home about (as my mamaw would say). You are not alone. Neither my wife or myself like it at all. Me personally...I don't like chocolate(weird I know) but my wife LOVES chocolate but can't stand it either. retiring soon Posted July 29, 2014 #30 Share Posted July 29, 2014 HI all! I love chocolate & am actually sitting here wishing we had some in the house but found the WCMC too rich for me. OTOH a young fellow at our table had it every night for dessert. Different strokes, eh?;) ~ Jo ~ :)
Pyxie Posted July 29, 2014 #31 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Haven't had it yet, but it looks like something right up my alley. I love rich, gooey desserts and chocolate! I'm betting my husband won't like it. He doesn't like "half-done" desserts.
Grayton Beach Girl Posted July 29, 2014 #32 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Love it! It's the hot/cold thing! But... Creme brûlée and bitter and blanc are even better! Yum!
IPlayWithString Posted July 29, 2014 Author #33 Share Posted July 29, 2014 You crossed the line there buddy. I could have pudding for dinner, and then pudding for dessert. Pudding pudding like Jell-O boxed pudding or British pudding which is pretty much any dessert though?:D And somebody upthread said it was actually fondant. I thought fondant was that stuff they put on cakes????
Cruise-Crazy Posted July 29, 2014 #34 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Finally tried it last cruise. Was NOT impressed...and I usually love anything chocolate. What is it about this particular dessert that makes people go ga-ga? Because I don't get it. It was ok..but nothing to write home about (as my mamaw would say). Try it more than once. I have had it when it was really good and other times way over cooked. I have got kind of tired of it, I'll have maybe once a cruise.
Cruise-Crazy Posted July 29, 2014 #35 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Pudding pudding like Jell-O boxed pudding or British pudding which is pretty much any dessert though?:D And somebody upthread said it was actually fondant. I thought fondant was that stuff they put on cakes???? It's cake that is not fully cooked so it is gooey in the center. I have been in the galley and seen them make it.. uapyro Posted July 29, 2014 #37 Share Posted July 29, 2014 It varies. Even between mine and my wife's it can be a completely different experience in how it's cooked.
losijon Posted July 29, 2014 #38 Share Posted July 29, 2014 It's good. Not the best thing I've ever had. Have it with some vanilla ice cream. rpmljm Posted July 29, 2014 #41 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I don't care for it either. I also don't like the bitter and blanc that so many rave about. The chocolate is too bitter for me.
cruisinJenF Posted July 29, 2014 #42 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Finally tried it last cruise. Was NOT impressed...and I usually love anything chocolate. What is it about this particular dessert that makes people go ga-ga? Because I don't get it. It was ok..but nothing to write home about (as my mamaw would say). I can't stand it. I think it tastes awful! The flavor is bad and it's like eating got brownie batter. Not at all like melted chocolate. Yuk!
retiredgram Posted July 29, 2014 #43 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Do not care for it. Other people love it. Now I like the soft serve yogurt.;) Like they say "Variety is the spice of life".

Shaded Lady Posted July 29, 2014 #45 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Too sweet, too rich, too runny... hey! Isn't it basically raw cake batter in a brownie crust? YUCK!
monteboy Posted July 29, 2014 #46 Share Posted July 29, 2014 By any chance... do you have a shirt that says you cruise for the chocolate melting cake? My shirt says "I choose to order what I want & vote for who I want" WELCOME to AMERICA!
irishnyc Posted July 29, 2014 #47 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I love chocolate, especially chocolate cake, and I didn't really care for it. It reminded me of those microwave cake mixes that came out in the mid/late 80s - done on the outside, raw on the inside.
Disconnections Posted July 30, 2014 #48 Share Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) My shirt says "I choose to order what I want & vote for who I want" WELCOME to AMERICA! The person I quoted, DocF, happened to be on the same Carnival Magic Transatlantic sailing that I was on and there was another guest who wore a t-shirt that said they cruised for the warm chocolate melting cake. Hence, the question. Edited July 30, 2014 by Disconnections
