Your cabin is near the rear elevators which is an excellent position

I notice you have only been on Carnival previously - prepare to fall in love with this ship

You will probably never go on Carnival again

We actually decided not to go ahead even though it was very tempting Once we added in airfares and accommodation, it was a good deal but not a super duper deal. Actually we have been on 3 RCI ships and 1 other X. Have to agree with you about Carnival, not our cup of tea at all.

Here's one for the very few who may have the funds and/or time to do a world cruise.

The 2017 Sydney to Sydney 104 night world cruise on the Sea Princess is currently showing $18,700 per person for an inside cabin on the big Oz website. Although it doesn't reveal it, there should be at least $2000 OBC per cabin, maybe more for Past Passengers. I haven't seen it this cheap before. This price is $2299 cheaper than currently on the Princess web site.

This cruise would be a good one (wouldn't any world cruise???) as it incorporates 3 ports in Norway, one port way inside the Arctic circle (Honningsvag).

Such a shame they have chosen to use the Sea Princess for such a magnificent cruise:mad:

I always wonder if they will honour the price on a big online site if it is cheaper, as they have wording like - Cabin price & availability will be confirmed normally within 24 - 48 hours after the submission of a booking request.

I have also noticed that the Celebrity sale with 2 perks does not work on a big online site. It has been 2 perks for a while on selected cruises, but they don't seem to have that functionality when you do your research. They don't mention the OBC offer either in the main listing.

Maybe they have been able to book a block cheaper without some of the perks you might get when booking direct? It sounds a lot still, am I working it out wrong at just under $180 per night per person for an inside? Wow.

I also hate that the T&C tab will not work until you get past putting in your details. There is the small link at the bottom of any websites page for T&Cs usually, but it should be more upfront. I am blown away by the fact that some online booking sites want a 10% (of the total fare) fee on top of losing the cruise payment if you cancel after the website's final payment date, which is way before the penalties start ramping up on the direct booking. So you could in effect be cancelling before a cruise line's final payment date, and should just lose your deposit, but they are taking 10% of the total of your fare, on top of the cruise line penalty. I though $100 was a lot to pay extra for cancelling!

If you have booked with an online cruise specialist site in the past, keep a look out for the fact that they change their terms and conditions from time to time also. Some may change hands and even take away the ability for customers to phone them.

Always worth doing the research, particularly for something worth that much!

Princess Flash Fares starting 15th March

15th May 2016 - Sea Princess Sydney to Dubai starting at $1799 for 20 days... now for the airfare..

That's very interesting. This is the first leg of the World Cruise, which indicates that it is nowhere near full if they are selling fares at such a low price.

It's not a very interesting World Cruise sector. It'd be better to fly to Dubai and start from there.

  • 2 weeks later...

P&O Aust is getting generous during their 'HOT HOT' sale with extra bonus OBC for those who cruised with them before (bonus added by the cruise line - makes travel agents confused).

So it's now $250 OBC for inside/ outside and $350 OBC for balconies/ suites - for 7 or 8 night cruise - AND with soft drink package thrown in. Volume agents dealing with

P&O (some online) might throw and extra $50 OBC from their extra 'quota' given by to them by the cruise line.

So if you always wanted to see Kangaroo Island, and don't mind smaller and picturesque townships Eden, Mornington Peninsular and - under $1000 for 8 days inside, on 2 Feb 2017 on Eden - this seems to be the good one to use your OBC.

Royal Caribbean have a great sale with an additional 10% off for existing Crown & Anchor members (gold and above) on selected Radiance of the Seas cruises. This also combines with their current 30% off sale! Found when booking that the price for our child came up as $0, only charged for gratuities (which we prepay) and taxes/port charges. :D

On the Celebrity Solstice 9 December 2016 sailing there is only a 20% single supplement on every Category. This reduced single supplement can be booked with Celebrity direct or with a travel agent within Australia.

That is a good special for single. Is it only that date where that single special applies? Where did you find out about that, if you can say, no probs if you can't. :)

I was just doing a check of the prices as I am keen to go on the 9 December cruise

Thanks for the info. I have been keeping an eye in some NZ Solstice cruises also, but the cost of flying to NZ adds a fair bit to the deal. The NZ cruises that start and finish in Syd are so much more expensive though. Would like to spend more time in NZ if flying over there, but can't take the extra time off in the near future, maybe down the track.

I was hoping to see some change to the pricing with them maybe dropping the BBB offers and making available a flat price. I like the idea of the drink package thrown in, but would be interested to see the comparison without it if they ever offered it. Anyhow, we shall keep looking!
