Am I the only one who is afraid to find out what a "carpet bowel" is and why the CD staff is carrying them around the ship and having people compete for pens for them? :) :) :)..........

I was wondering if anyone could offer a translation.

Mike

I would suspect he meant carpet bowl. Like this:

Hi All

Sea day today, lots going on onboard, last night was tattoo 18 groups went off so assume 18 buses plus those on the VIP package two groups plus the private groups so 1000 folks from the ship at least.

As to the show everyone l have asked said amazing one lady said she was in tears through out it was just so emotional.

Casino open today after been closed for two days so quite busy the machine l won on was being played by another so waited and started to play that person returned and started to play machine next to me, then l got lucky again same win as last time including the third reel just missing the jackpot, guy next to me congratulated me but you could see him thinking that he should have won.

Ate at Crown grill last night not up to standard had to wait long time to get a seat no supervisor about almost walked away food itself was fine speed of service was fine however soup arrived cold muscles not hot enough desert still frozen then coffee cold.

However was some good points the lobster tails were served cut long ways and were a lot better than last time. Room steward still just doing enough not to have a complaint made against him but only just still need to request things. Good room stewards appear like ghosts you go out they are in job done this one we are constantly bumping into.

Weather overall has been very good t shirt everyday so far. OK ships security were cold hat gloves scarf etc but standing about all day and night in a draft is not fun ship sailed away in early hours so long day for them.

A few crew shining out above others very polite friendly ask about your day recall your name your likes so will get made the difference cards at end of cruise.

Formal to night very early in cruise for last one captains circle party as well.

Normal ship stuff going on fruit carving sexy legs competition etc

Hi All

One thing l like to do is just sit in IC have a cup of coffee and just listen to my fellow passengers chat, not in a nasty way but just to get a feeling for how their cruise is going, so its nice to hear folk say beautiful ship, friendly crew, etc better still when they say Ireland was nice but Scotland amazing. Highlight of the cruise Edinburgh tattoo but it was cold, hear that every day its so cold here well do not wear shorts. Hotel Manager stopped by to say sorry Crown Grill not up to standard not a big issue anyone can have an off day. Commodore been out and about but wearing a blue sweater as such passengers do not recognise him. Wanted to get back to casino but the bloke that watched me win had been on machine constantly. Kirkwall was a great port of call these standing stones older than Stonehenge this house 5000 years old pre dates great pyramid's. I think all l have spoken to have said they got a lot more out of the port of call than they were expecting. Invergordon today weather still holding good nice touch is seamans mission has a set up a WiFi hot spot for crew ashore as well as free tea and coffee also a house with Philippines flag in widow not sure what's going on but crew heading in.

Local Highland games on today free shuttle bus to them.

Local bus driver for Inverness must have had quite a shock as we are in port with Saga Sapphire so instead of a few locals at bus stop think hundreds but buses run regularly and are cheap lots of folks taking Princess tours lots to do and see around this area not much in the village but a few good little tourist shops. Last night was ltalian night no lemoncello. Sea food on main menu has been good waiter started bringing little extras of sea food for me to sample which is nice. IC, Vines now using our names and know our likes nice touch hope same staff still here in a few weeks when back onboard. Chatting to crew they appear to be happy overall got paid the other day so that helps but nice to here some below the decks stories but can not post here as we are being watched by Princess. South Queensferry tomorrow family coming over to meet us. One of the reasons for doing this cruise was just to chill out and do nothing if we had gone to the med we could not have gone to Rome,Athens etc and done nothing so this cruise is providing us with the chance to relax. Our table mates are already saying they need a holiday to recover from this cruise being on tour everyday is hard work but if this is your only visit to UK then you must make the most of it so much to see and do.

Thanks for your continued updates. You're making me wish I could have worked it out for us to have gone on the British isles cruise instead of to the Caribbean. It did not work out for us budget and time wise this year.

Hi All

Invergordon today l have been telling all to look out dolphins and polar bears, now most think l have been making fun of them, so when they opened there free tourist guides and saw polar bears they realised l was telling them the truth we have them in a wild life park as the winters there are like home for them, as for dolphins none to been seen until folks started to board and then splash another splash its the dolphins just l had said right next to the ship. Sail away great scenery and a full pipe band to send us on our way. Talk at dinner was about the castles with so many great ones to choose from folks were able to compare notes. But no one saw Nessie but the folks who did the distillery tour said they were seeing things on the bus on the way back.

The buses to Inverness got caught up in football traffic as it was big match day so could have been an extra ten thousand folks on the roads. Still so many folk that do not know off or make use of all that the Ruby and Princess has to offer, simple things playing darts or classes on how to use a smart phone to how to do CPR. The pub lunch had them queing up well before opening time. Question was there not fresh flowers at Sabatinis and the Crown Grill on all tables. Casino closed again today does not open until 11 pm tomorrow night. Queensferry for Edinburgh tomorrow tender port a few heading for St Andrews for the golf some to Stirling for the Braveheart tour others to Falkirk for the wheel and the Kelpies so do not expect many will be staying onboard for us meeting family and off loading some baggage. chatted to one couple booked on Royal Caribbean about our up and coming Quebec cruise they are now trying to get there TA to move them.

Hi All

Sitting in IC watching folks line up for tender tickets as we are tendering into South Queensferry weather amazing full sunshine water dead calm seas OK its still Scotland so most folk still wrapped up like they are going on an artic expedition.

Check web can for great views of the railway bridge. Chatting to fellow passengers appears Princess has best entertainment have been a number of acts were standing room only. The MacDonald brothers were moving to Seabourn for their next show.

Steve, you said early on in your live that you were "missing your Becks" and that on Italian night there was no offer of limoncello....I drink Becks on board and always buy some limoncello on Italian night- do you know why it wasn't offered?

Also you mentioned Belfast but I saw no report from there-did you stay on the ship?

Thanks in advance

Hi All

To answer some questions understand Princess no longer deals with the supplier for Becks so now offers Heineken and Dos Equis

As to Lemoncelo think they just ran out

Belfast was a nice stop free shuttle bus to down town, many folks went to Titanic museum most thought it a good trip but not cheap.

South Queensferry turned out to be the best day of the cruise for weather all very impressed with Edinburgh with a number saying they will return.

Went to Sabatinis last night menu slightly different from last time overall nice experience but lost that wow factor still worth going to and will do again on next cruise first time in a long time that Sabatinis has been better than Crown Grill but will give Crown Grill another chance on our next cruise.

Casino has turned nasty wants back all the money it gave me at the start of the cruise.

As to overall service onboard no complaints, reported issue with air con in cabin repaired within hours ordered room service told would be 20 minutes arrived in 5.

Sea day today weather poor dull and wet.

Ques at Pub lunch again, tonight crab shack

Clean up crew hard at work yesterday in hall way would guess an accident at laundry as carpet driers hoovers for sucking up water etc Clocks went forward last night tomorrow they will go back.

Tomorrow last day and big tour planned going to Pegasus Bridge and a few other Normandy sites.

Hi All

France, weather at ship very poor heavy rain went back to Normandy visited both US and UK war graves guide said over a million visitors to the large US cemetery.

Big difference between the two l liked the UK one better in that the families have the chance to put a family message on the grave stone reading only son off or father too is quite moving there is a lot of differences are folks interested will list

We went to Pegasus Bridge museum well worth a visit

Hi All

Time to leave hugs and kisses from crew members wish waiter would not do this,

Commodore touring ship stopped by Elite lounge and wished all safe journey then by gang way saying good bye shaking hands etc nice touch.

Met one lady this morning who is never cruising Princess again reason could not log into WiFi this morning to print her boarding pass for flight home.

Overall good cruise some minor issues which if been a first time cruiser would not make Princess my first choice but not enough not to cruise with them again.

We were to have been on the cruise that embarks today but unfortunately had to cancel due to a cornea transplant DW needed in mid-July. So this morning I have been tearing myself apart watching the Ruby on webcams. See she is at the "Titanic's" dock. In any event the roll call for today's cruise was very active and a great group of people are boarding.

Hi All

When your plane is a twin prop and one engine starts making a funny noise halfway down the runway and your fellow passengers start looking at each other you start thinking this is not right but plane made it off the ground made same odd noise on landing happy to be home with four legged friends.
