MyVegas rewards

I have heard many different reports about reward redemptions. I think right now there is still much confusion on the part of the cruise line agents in understanding the rules but they should have been given all the information to start. Part of the Terms indicate that the rewards are only available for NEW BOOKINGS. The OBC rules are not available for any discounted cruise rate, so it is just about a worthless option. Here are some of the Terms for the OBC: OBC IS combinable with standard/full fare rates and restricted rates (for example, Seniors, Residents, Military, police/fire). OBC is not combinable with ANY OTHER offer or promotion but not limited to.... I have been reading where players trying to redeem the drink credits are being denied because the agents are stating that they to cannot be combined with another promotion or discounted fare but the Drink Rewards Terms do not have that same restriction.

The only discount I have on mine is a Resident one, so I'm at least still in the running as far as that goes. So if I call and am denied, then take the redemption paper with me and am still denied, did I lose out on thousands of LPs or can it be returned/refunded?

Why can't anything be easy? LOL

StarSong, you and I can tackle this together when we get onboard Allure!

Although I don't know if I'll get enough LPs to get anything. I want a drink package. If I don't get enough, I'll probably just continue to build for the next cruise, whenever that might be.

We have a "Kids Sail Free" promo on our booking. No other discount or OBC.

Concerning refunds: Just read the Terms on the less expensive drink package and would guess the more expensive one has the same: This reward is non-refundable after purchase. No loyalty point refunds will be provided once you have confirmed your purchase of this reward (meaning when you hit the CONFIRM link on the reward - not when you actual redeem it with the cruise line).

Refunds were being made on a case-by-case basis by myVegas support based upon when you made the purchase (such as early purchasers before the Terms & Conditions were fully available).

At the rate I'm going, I *might* have enough for one of the drink packages, but probably not enough for Ultimate. I'm not one of those people who can afford to take multiple cruises a year. So my next after this is unknown, probably not until 2016. I should have plenty of points by then :D

Thanks. When I read the description for drink package it says 'any ship, any sailing. must be redeemed 90 days after purchase. Detailed information on how to redeem your award will be provided after you made your purchase.'

So, nothing about new bookings, unless there is some fine print in the 'how to redeem' section that I won't be able to see until after I purchase, which is then too late to do anything about it. But I'm hoping all that's about is what number to call or something.

The Ultimate drink package is (at the time I wrote this) available for purchase so I was able to see the 2nd page of the Terms: "Reward is applicable to new individual bookings only and is subject to verification. Booking must be made a minimum of 30 days prior to departure." Same NONREFUNDABLE terms after using your LPs to obtain the reward.

Just saw this morning after the new load on the game that the Cruise % off discounts as well as the drink package discounts are showing as REFUNDABLE up to 90 days for return of LPs. Takes some of the risk out of purchasing them.

Also, the restriction on use has changed and is no longer showing that the drink packages can only be used on standard/restricted fares but still shows new individual bookings.

Don't see why they had to make these rewards so confusing from the start. Guess they found that nobody was able to use them in the REAL world.

So if calling doesn't work, and applying onboard doesn't work, we'll look into booking onboard for Thanksgiving weekend and using it for that. If that's also a no-go, refund it is!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I just contacted the number on the link which goes right to RCI. I was confused because I checked the price on the same sailing on the 50% off myVegas bonus buy and just booking through RCI. The price was the exact same. They informed me that the 50% & 35% off cruise fare is only on full price cruises. So there is no savings at all.

I asked him if I would be better off using a 100.00 OBC or the drink package. after 15 minutes on hold he was sorry to say that it cannot be combined with any discounted fare.

So the cruise is the same price with 50% off as RCI offers it but a 100.00 OBC cannot be added to a sale fare. I would have to book a full price fare and they be able to use only one promotion. ie 50 % off or 100.00 OBC Either way it is cheaper to just book without the myvegas points.

It sounds like a great offer and I would have been able to use it. But bottom line there is no benefit that he could give me unless I wanted to up my cruise to full fare.

The cruises I looked at on the myVegas select cruises have the Buy One Get One 50% off but the 50% off is only the 2nd person. When I booked mine using the 50% off myVegas discount, the total for the cruise was an additional 25% off of that fare. Received email confirmation showing 50% (25% lower than the current fare shown on the site). You need to make sure the booking agent plugs in the RCCL promotion code to show the discount. Not the myVegas redemption number but the promo code shown on the email. Full fare would be the 1st person price shown times 2, so not sure where they are figuring the price shown as being 50% off of full fare.

Maybe I'm missing something, but does anyone else find it odd that the offer for Comp Companion Fare is more points than the 50% off fare for two passengers? Isn't this really the exact same thing if you have at least 2 people sailing? Even odder to me is that the Comp Companion Fare seems to be the one gone before the 50% (unless it is always unavailable?)

They are both for Select Sailings so it's not like one gives you more options. And actually, if one was to have any advantage it would seem to be the the other way around and the 50% off for those that are sailing alone would be preferred?

I'm going to try calling to add it to our cruise on the Allure next month and if that doesn't work, we'll try this!

Thank you!

Now back to MV to collect 32000 more LP's!

Just got confirmation that my drink package was added to an existing "group discounted" cruise, it took over a week and finally getting a supervisor on the phone, but its now on my reservation!

Ahhhhh, there's still hope then! At the moment I'm looking at 1,010 chips to play with (got carried away with the latest quest) and about 52,000 LP. So I have to low-roll it for the next few days (pout). But there's still time to get enough to purchase a drink package. That's all I really want.

I find it interesting that $300 OBC costs 300k LP, but the Ultimate drink package, which normally costs $455, is only 225k LP. Which leads me to believe people who buy is normally are paying twice what the value is. hmmmm

So I did some research last night because the available information on the MyVegas, MLife and Royal Caribbean sites was thin to say the least.

1. Certificates through MyVegas are good for cruises from now to the end of 2015.

2. The only blanket exceptions are Quantum and Anthem. All other sailings and cruises are usable.

3. There is no restriction on cabin class

4. Discounts apply to cruise fare only, not port fees, taxes and gratuities.

5. Order of operations - Redeem for MyVegas cert, book cruise at least 30 days in advance. Important items there is the at least 30 days between booking and sailing and not applicable to reservations made elsewhere. Also from the time you turn your points into a certificate you have 90 days to make your booking.

6. You can use a travel agent of your choice to make your booking.

7. All bookings are made by phone - 1-855-284-7463

8. Although there are the usual no combination of discounts there is a possibility that future cruise certificates can apply. I won't know that til I book so that's a next year answer but the agent seemed to believe it would work.

9. Although there are additional rewards for beverage packages etc, only one reward per reservation is accepted.

10. There is a 500,000 reward for 50% off a cruise and a 750,000 reward for buy one get one free. There is no actual difference between the two that the agent and I could find.

11. Discount is applied at final payment. Deposits for cruises that are not at final payment stage are collected as normal.

Between the Mlife operator, the MyVegas operator and the two very helpful ladies at RCI I spent about 45 mins on the phone yesterday so there is probably more that I missed writing down, so please feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for the info and the diligence required to acquire it.

I have 580k points and am looking to use some of them over the seas... Looks like the OBC is the best way to go with it. Wonder if I can buy two.

I'm sure you can buy two, however only one can be used per reservation.

Does anyone know if I use a $300 onboard credit if I can combine with my C&A discount? thanks :)

From the current Terms & Conditions for the OBC Rewards: "OBC is combinable with standard/full fare rates and restricted rates (for example, Seniors, Reisdents, Military, police/fire).

OBC is not combinable with any other offer or promotion, including, but not limited to, Interline, Travel Agent, Travel Agent Friends and Family, weekly Sales Events, net Rates, Crown & Anchor Discounts, Shareholder Benefits or Next Cruise offers, promotions, or benefits."

To elaborate on what utwofan noted, it does not appear that ANY benefits are combinable with anything other than a full fare. This includes of you are a member of their casino club and have any discount through them. (Club Royale) I have a sailing booked and received a modest discount through Casino Royal off the posted rate, but could not redeem MyVegas points for any rewards since I was on a discounted rate.

Additionally, MLife member perks (such as a specialty dinner if you are Gold) are also not valid if you are booked on anything other than full fare.

So all in all, it looks great in the marketing, but is essentially worthless. Save your MyVegas points for buffets and shows in Vegas.

(Your experience may vary, RCCL is notorious for every rep giving a different answer.)

I have a couple of questions about this program that I'm hoping someone can answer. I'd like to snag a 50% off reward and was wondering:

1) Does the discount apply to the first two passengers (as opposed to me getting 50% off and my wife having to pay full fare)?

2) Above it was said that there is not a restriction on cabin class... so I can book a suite at half off, right?

3) Does this work on any cruise or only the ones listed on the RC link? The reason for my confusion is at the bottom is says "Don't See the cruise you're looking for? Search all Cruises"

I'm looking at a cruise for next summer and a GS is $2,397.50 pp right now, so 50% off for 500,000 points would be a pretty good deal.
