Robinola Posted August 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2014 In grand caymen with freedom of the seas, can I just get off the ship and start walking on my own if I want to? Is it set up to allow that sort of thing?
cb at sea Posted August 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) Of course! It's allowed everywhere...not just in GC! You do know that GC is a TENDER port.you will have to take a tender to get to the land. Shopping is right across from the tender dock...as well as a bus that will take you almost anywhere else! Rare mitsugirly Posted August 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Well..you can't just get off the ship and start walking...you'll end up in the water. :D (Since it's a tender port). All joking aside, Grand Caymen is a very easy port to come ashore and just walk around and eat and shop. There's plenty right there up and down the street if you don't wish to go far. This is the main street once you come ashore.
runner15km Posted August 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Snorkeling is just a 10 minute walk from the tender pier and the closest beach (7 Mile Beach) is about a 35 minute walk. Cabs are available right at the tender pier. Have fun !

Is it set up to allow that sort of thing? Last time in Grand Cayman we did a combination of these walking tours http://www.explorecayman.com/george-town-walking-tour I marked it out on google maps and printed that out. Gives you a starting point and you can add in shopping and restaurants.
