geovet Posted September 3, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted September 3, 2014 I love reading all these positive responses. We are booked on the cruise that the OP is asking about. Sunshine 10/2/15 8 nights to Bermuda. I can hardly wait. I've always wanted to go to Bermuda - it was hard to pass up a cruise from FL. I will be on the Sunshine next month and will be booking when on board. Looking forward to a year long roll call.

michaelandjoanne Posted September 3, 2014 #28 Share Posted September 3, 2014 Just remember it is not the Carribean and is quite far north. I would only go July-September if I wanted beach/water weather. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cruisenanny Posted September 3, 2014 #29 Share Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Of our dozen or so cruises to Bermuda, several have been in October. The weather tends to be absolutely amazing (July and August can sometimes feel like you are stuck on a HOT rock in the Atlantic) and the water is as warm or warmer than in July or August. I think people that discourage October cruising to Bermuda have either had an unusual experience or haven't actually done it but THINK it would be too cool. jbhcw Posted September 3, 2014 #34 Share Posted September 3, 2014 We cruised to Bermuda on the pride from Baltimore a few years ago...and loved it:). Have been waiting for another opportunity to go back...cruising on the splendor next October...cannot wait:)
Waterloomarc Posted September 3, 2014 #35 Share Posted September 3, 2014 Just to pile on. Bermuda has been my favorite cruise so far. By a mile too. Went on NCL Star from NYC a few years ago. Would do it again in a heartbeat when I get the chance. DD is still too young (15 mo) for me to comfortably being her on a plane. Once she's a little older and were able to fly again I'll be back :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NCTribeFan Posted September 3, 2014 #36 Share Posted September 3, 2014 I'd love to. I wish one of the options was departing from Charleston. :( Carnival actually did a few Fantasy cruises to Bermuda. I was booked on one and switched to the Glory sailing because Fantasy always seemed to be there over the weekend and I'd read that many places were closed on Sundays. And, for me, Norfolk is even closer. I wouldn't think it would be too terrible of a drive to get to Norfolk from Columbia. Prices are high, though! And balcony and suites have been sold out for weeks already! The weather on that Glory cruise was, well, glorious! Splendor sails a week later, but I'm not going to fret about the weather. Yes, this is pretty much considered the beginning of "off season" in Bermuda, but that's just fine by me. I'm not a swimmer, so it doesn't matter to me if the water's cold. Yes, they have beautiful beaches, but I spend most of my port time exploring. A couple hours on a beach is plenty for me. If you want to sail Carnival to Bermuda, you don't have the option to go in mid-summer because they don't have regular sailings. As far as I know, these two sailings are the first to Bermuda since Glory. They've even added a few for Pride, but the time in port is not good. Everything will be closed the first evening (she actually arrives in port a couple of hours before we leave). I learned from experience that there's no point in paying the high prices to get there if you don't have time to explore properly.
SMSACE6 Posted September 3, 2014 #37 Share Posted September 3, 2014 One time I was in Bermuda in July, and it was beautiful and sunny, but very cool and windy. Reminded me nice summer days on east coast Canada; We do get them:D The other time, I was there in October and it was sunny, and warm enough to swim in the hotel's pool. Actually it was warmer than my trip there in July.
browneyedgirlnb Posted September 3, 2014 #38 Share Posted September 3, 2014 October in Bermuda is fabulous. This will be our 5th late Oct trip next month... the weather was always beautiful, except for last year, it rained the last day. Bermuda is the only place I really want to cruise to. Unfortunately for us, rccl is stopping their Oct to Bermuda itineraries from NJ [emoji35] Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
splintz Posted September 3, 2014 #39 Share Posted September 3, 2014 i went to Bermuda on the pride out of Baltimore a few years back during spring break in april. it was a great cruise and I'm so glad we went since carnival has really cut back on the cruises to Bermuda. nothing better then being docked for 3 days and don't have to worry about getting back to the boat at a certain time. Bermuda was beautiful and the weather was great, and everyone was very friendly. i would love to go again if the dates would fit my schedule. i few points to be aware of: -the boat is docked at the royal navy dock yard in kings wharf. there are a few restaurants and bars right there, also a beach close by but they charge money to get on the beach. i remember buying bus passes and ferry passes to go to the nicer beaches and also to go to Hamilton. -while docked in Bermuda the casino on the ship will remain closed. i also think all the fun shops were also closed but not 100% sure of the shops. this is mandated by Bermuda and is one of the issues i think carnival has with the cruises to Bermuda and why they have cut back on them. _also not a big deal but on the way to bermuda you hit a certain point on the cruise and the ship loses half the TV channels due to losing reception with a TV satelitte. not a big deal but i remember on my cruise it was during the NBA playoffs and a lot of people were not happy when it happened. the above are not really big issues but something some people might want to consider before booking. it is also issues (casino being closed)they don't tell you about when researching or booking. some cruisers like to gamble every night as part of their vacation. the first night when we left Bermuda i have never seen a cruise ship casino that busy in my life. Ships casinos are now allowed to be open from 9pm until 5am as of last year. This is not the reason Carnival doesn't regularly cruise to Bermuda. The reason is because X, Royal & Norwegian have contracts with the Bermuda Government to come to Bermuda weekly in the season. This leaves slim pickings for other lines who would like to include Bermuda in their itineraries.

Cruise a holic Posted September 3, 2014 #42 Share Posted September 3, 2014 I live in Florida and have cruised to most of eastern, western and southern ports with Carnival. Next year, Carnival has a cruise to Bermuda. Do you think this is a exciting port to visit, or am I better off with the many places to visit in the Caribbean? I do like visiting some beautiful beaches and exploring new places. Thanks for your advise. Have been to Bermuda three times on the Celebrity Summit- a great cruise and we enjoy the island. Next summer, we will again go to Bermuda, but we will be on the NCL Breakaway (the Haven) for a change. Enjoy your cruise.
Rare LMaxwell Posted September 3, 2014 #43 Share Posted September 3, 2014 I would love to go to Bermuda without flying (Florida too). RCI is trying a few Vision trips this year from Florida, but they have Nassau and some other fluff that make them not work-friendly in terms of taking a work week off. If anyone offers a 7 or 8 day from Florida to Bermuda I'd go. I do not see any listing of SUnshine for 10/15 to Bermuda. I don't see Sunshine slated for Bermuda at all. There is Splendor from Virginia but it is far and away the most expensive 7 day Bermuda cruise for October 2015 compared to all other lines. Where can I find this itinerary? On the Carnival search page, If you search Bermuda and Port Canaveral you should find it.

evandbob Posted September 3, 2014 #50 Share Posted September 3, 2014 Bermuda is on my places to go list - easy enough from NY, either cruising or flying, but for some reason, I just haven't gotten there yet. Maybe someday........after Fiji, Australia, and Iceland.
