Crossing The Equator

We are going on Far East cruise Jan 2015.As we cross the equator Singapore to Bali/Lombok is there a ceremony onboard to mark the occassion and if so what happens.?

Usually there is. The Cruise staff and most likely the Captain put on a show where 'King Neptune' and his 'bride' come aboard. A few passengers and some crew who haven't crossed the Equator before also take part. They get covered in all sorts of stuff (spaghetti, flour, maybe raw eggs). Usually the Captain ends up being thrown in the pool.

 

The ceremony is a lot of fun and worth watching but I wouldn't like to take part.:)

There should be a ceremony. My husband took part in one and was covered from head down with chocolate and caramel syrup. He had a blast.

How does one go about cleaning all that gunk off? I can't imagine ruining my clothes with chocolate and caramel...

We cross the Equator next month and I keep telling my husband that everyone has to kiss a fish....he is not impressed and has stated that he is flately refusing to kiss a fish!!!!

 

I keep telling him that EVERYONE has to kiss the fish.

I crossed the Equator on my S. America cruise. We had a big deck party and everyone who wanted to, had to kiss a fish! UGH. They had a BIG fish and everyone lined up and kissed it.

They give out t shirts to wear. It came right out of his swimsuit. They all used the outdoor showers by the pool.
