Got an amazing deal!

Congrats on the great deal!

I also scooped up a pretty sweet deal from this sale. My son, and I are leaving 11/3/14 on the Ruby Princess for 5 nights out of Ft Lauderdale. Paid $660 for a guarantee oceanview cabin, and got $400 OBC! It is only my 3rd time on Princess after a very long hiatus. I basically chose this one over the Caribbean Princess because of the ship. I previously sailed on her many years ago, and wanted to try a different ship this time. Fortunately, I live in Ft Lauderdale, so this is perfect! I already have a 7N cruise booked on another line going out 11/16/14, but this deal was too good to pass up. :D:D

Ann -

400.00 from Princess

15.00 because I used an FCC that was about to expire

100.00 for completing Princess refresher courses ( I am an outside agent for a travel agency in Tampa, but I only book for myself)

Even without the 100.00 I would have still gotten a great deal and it makes no difference to me where the ship goes!

Transfer the amount you want from the slot machine to your player bank, spin it once then cash out at the cage. You can also take it out at the table games (3% fee) and take the chips that you can cash in to the cage. Some onboard credit, such as the shareholder credit, say they cannot be used towards gratuities or the casino, but it's never been an issue on Carnival or Princess for us. Onboard credit is onboard credit, except apparently the new terms for the shore excursion credit at Princess.

I do agree with your method but as of yet no one has confirmed if it can be done on the CB with that $200 p/p cabin credit.

For the sake of everyone being able to continue to do this, it may be best to NOT advertise it on public forums that Princess does indeed monitor! Just saying...

That is our one concern. But we're going to assume that there's a way, and are going to proceed with final payment. I have read all the fine print, and there is no restriction on HOW to SPEND the OBC, only that it's not one of the refundable ones for which Passenger Services would issue a cash or credit card refund.

What about entire threads dedicated to cashing out extra onboard credit, seen as recent as this week? Princess is obviously well aware of this, as are other subsidiaries by Carnival Corporation. This is mentioned weekly over there and Carnival's social media associates read those boards and occasionally respond. It's been mentioned for years and nothing has been done yet.

All true. I've seen those threads, and often ponder the wisdom of them.

We are sailing on princess for the 1st time in Dec. a short 4 night cruise. I am taking an inside cabin for the first time. Hope we like it. I was excited with my $12.50 each OBC. On a side note I see you are from Venice Fl. We currently live in NJ and are hoping to soon having a place in Venice. We love it there. I would be cruising all the time if we were there. Would love to beat your ear on some potential communities.

We have always sailed with balcony room. But after peeking in some interior rooms on recent cruises, they did not look so bad and gave it a try in June. Great savings and we really liked it!

Have since booked 2 more inside cabins. Great way to save money! You are only in there to sleep, shower and dress. Being out on decks and public areas is where all the fun stuff is.

Needless to say, if I am going places I have never been, depending on weather, I would have balcony or ocean view.

We also settled for an inside cabin & haven't been inside in 15 years !

It should be interesting....and cheap. :D

Thanks for the fax #. I too got a great deal on the Singapore to Singapore 11 day Nov 27. When my regular agent couldn't / wouldn't discount, or throw any OBC my way; I switched to an online TA. I did send her an email explaining the reason I didn't book with her agency. I guess these last minute, firesales, there's not much commission for them to deal with. So she said. Oh well, the agency I booked with was happy for my business & very pleasant to deal with.

The key word being "yet". It took years for them to respond to the "bring all the wine you want on board" threads too but, they eventually did and put a stop to it.

I booked my Nov. 1st before the big sale. Which came the day after final payment.

My cruise is the opposite. I normally sail insides but upgraded myself to an ocean view with a small reduction in price, then I upgraded to a nice Caribe Deck balcony and increased my OBC. Then thanks to my amazing sister in law and brother booked the following 4 day in the same balcony.

LIFE IS GOOD!!

Military Discount - can someone clarify for me if this discount is applicable to those who served in the US Army Reserve 6 yrs and honorably discharged?

If you can provide a DD214 you should be good to go.

Congrats to all for the great deals.

Question - if you don't use all of the OBC, then you don't get the cash instead? correct? Since you have to spend onboard, then the OBC does not reduce the cost of the initial booking of the cruise - it reduces the TOTAL cost of the vacation.

So $523 fare (incl. taxes.....) does not equal $8 when you minus $515 in OBC. It equals $523 and probably no additional cost.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but feel free to let me know if I am wrong.

I do agree however that $523 is a great deal for a solo for a 5 night cruise - especially with so much OBC to cover gratuities, excursions, liquid refreshments, etc.

Enjoy your cruise

Attilamom -

If you don't want to burst my bubble, then why did you feel it necessary to try?

Here's how I look at it:

I got a cabin on my favorite deck, once I step foot on the ship I will not spend a penny for onboard expenses, I can pay gratuities, have dinner every night at Crown Grill if I wish, get a coffee card, and have a few adult beverages........Plus I am Elite so I will get those benefits. Also, I can drive to Ft. Lauderdale and park at a friends' house.

I still think I got a GREAT deal and I've no regrets about it! ( and by the way, the 523.00 includes Princess Platinum insurance)

Just booked Caribbean Princess Nov. 10- Nov 15.

I am sailing solo. Got an inside cabin on Plaza Deck- my favorite. Pricing breaks down as follows:

Cruise fare including insurance, port charges, and tax - 523.00

OBC -515.00

Cruise cost 8.00!

I think the cruise has 2 sea days and goes to Princess Cay AND Nassau, but for this price who cares?
