Oasis: D1 Balcony, Three People, $5000, BOGOHO Deal?

Hey gang, I need some help.

I recently got off the Majesty and while on her book the Oasis for May of 2015 for myself, wife, and a friend.

It is a category D1 Balcony...but the price came out to $5,000.

Does that seem incredibly high to anyone else?

Is this the dreaded BOGOHO sale at it's worse?

Should I cancel and hope it gets better after the sale ends?

Thank you for your help, as it is much appreciated.

Seems a little steep to me:eek:

We booked an OS on Allure for 2016 on a holiday week, for not much more than that. Granted it was on the BOGOHO#1 offer.

It does seem a bit high to me. Why not keep the cabin and watch for price drops if the sail ever ends, it seems to be going on forever. You still have some time to decide. If you cancel now won't you lose the OBC from booking onboard? I have not booked a future cruise on a ship since they changed the OBC policy.

Way too high, what day in May (not that it matters too much). Watch the prices if you decide to keep it b/c they more than likely will come down, but you have to watch everyday. We usually cruise in May and that just seems expenside.

OP stated in post #12 the date. See above

As it always is, it is supply and demand.... If one does not like the price, DON"T BOOK it. Look for a different cabin class, date, ship or intinerary. That said, keep looking for price drops. You have until the final payment date to either cancel or change to a different cruise.

May 19th is a holiday in Canada and the following weekend is Memorial Day. In addition, they are running residency rates on that sailing for certain states, but not Florida. The D1's on Oasis and Allure have always seemed to be higher priced than warranted. How about a boardwalk balcony/central park balcony/promenade cabin?

I doubt it's a good deal. Here's our pricing example (granted, a different ship and time but it shows that prices are highly inflated for this "sale")

In March of this year, we booked a JS on Indy, sailing 10/11/15. For two passengers, with Diamond balcony discount and taxes, we paid $2292. I just did a mock booking for same cruise and it came to $4047 with the BOGOHO promotion.

If I were you, I'd keep shopping for a lower price.

I just did a mock booking for Oasis in Oct '15 and the price for a D5 acc balc is $3000 for two. No way will I pay that much.

I can go on the Serenade for 10 days for a lot less. RCI is going to price themselves out of the market if they're not careful.

How is RCL going to price them out of the market when people STILL buy the cabins at that price? As long as the cabins are being sold at that price, RCL is happy. They may raise the price even more... If they stop selling, the price will be reduced to fill the ship.

Basic economics.... So many just don't understand.
