Wine-O Posted September 25, 2014 #26 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Each cabin is to receive $300 OBC - very fair IMHO. Beautiful sunny day, as Capt Leo says life us good :D Wow! That's pretty generous for just missing one port.
warmwinds Posted September 25, 2014 #27 Share Posted September 25, 2014 That IS generous. I'm sure they also refunded any shore excursions...but what happens to the vendors they had contracted with? Do they still get the payment for the excursions? Sydney is not a big place and I'm sure they depend on that ship revenue.

Phxazzcruisers Posted September 25, 2014 #30 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Extremely generous especially considering Sydney is not an exciting port. Not much to see at all. Enjoy the rest of your cruise

Lysingers Posted September 25, 2014 #32 Share Posted September 25, 2014 We are scheduled to be getting on Summit for its next Canada/New England cruise as you guys are getting off on October 5th. Just wondering if this problem might impact us in some way, if Celebrity might decide to do a more permanent repair of some kind. Hope it would just be a delayed departure on Sunday evening, rather than cancelled ports or worse yet, an entire cancelled cruise! Our entire year's vacation has been committed to these 14 days, and its too late to plan anything else at this late date.
wwcruisers Posted September 25, 2014 #33 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Great to hear that you're underway again -- and that X is offering some generous compensation, for the missed port. We loved Summit, and are looking forward to sailing on her again, next year. Captain Leo ROCKS -- don't let the "baby-face" fool you! ;)
cruiseacecat Posted September 25, 2014 #34 Share Posted September 25, 2014 That is excellent compensation!! And more so for only missing one port. Hope the rest of the cruise goes without incident. I am on the next cruise and looking forward to it very much. Hope also that this is a permanent repair. Nothing has ever been easy with pod repairs in the past. Fingers crossed. And Suzanne, agree completely about Capt. Leo. :D

chrismakris Posted September 25, 2014 #36 Share Posted September 25, 2014 $300!!!! Wow. Very generous indeed. Got a feeling there is going to be a long wait for spa treatments and specialty restaurants over the next couple of days. Enjoy that OBC everyone!!!! Poohb Posted September 25, 2014 #38 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Just make sure to spend the OBC. I'm betting you won't get cash back from it. Drink a lot and pay your gratuities. ENJOY.

c-legs Posted September 26, 2014 #46 Share Posted September 26, 2014 This is another Millennium Alaska situation...I would expect it to get worse either this cruise or next... Of course, you have absolute knowledge of that fact.....Perhaps, you ought to pass some of it on to the guests currently onboard so they can proactively prepare themselves for this upcoming ;''; event;''.
