dirtgirl Posted October 14, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Thanks all! No passport, it expired and I used license and bc.Even if i had one, it wouldnt help this time, due to the flight times. It sort ofworked out, the Weds flight. Word of advise: Atlantis is HUGE, leave early to get back on ship! i was litereally one or two minutes to late! i couldve jumped in the ocean and touched the ship, no exaggeration! i was begging captain johnny as i looked at the bridge, but to no avail. I dont blame him, he actually waited a while for me! Lesson learned! I was trying to sleep in the room, but its not in a good part of town. Scary place, lol., I finally got hold of kids via text. Guess its somber on the ship, our group of 15. I told my kids to pretend i'm at the pool and have fun! Wife crying, ugh...! my 22 year old amost got off the ship, i'm so glad he didnt! hes in charge now, at least for a day or two, lol. alrighty all, good night! and thank you for keeping me company! Oh man. You know I'm here for you. :( Glad your son didn't get off the ship! Chat tomorrow!

Rare BillOh Posted October 15, 2014 #30 Share Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) Please tell us why you didn't go back to the ship with your family. Good luck. I'm going to guess hot streak in the casino :D I do like the way the guy is taking responsibility for his own actions. He is right, Atlantis a big place and probably why I never went there until I was on Majesty and was in port more than 5 hours. ehfl Posted October 15, 2014 #35 Share Posted October 15, 2014 I'll try to make a long story short: 6 of us went to Atlantis. 3 of us hung out at beach, while a friend took his daugher and my son on the slides. We held all the stuff, they were going to be back at 330. 330 came, 400, 415... It's a good idea to take your cell phone for emergency contact. Even if you have to pay for roaming or texting, it's cheaper than missing the boat. It's always a good idea to have backup meeting times. The slide at 3:30, the entrance to Atlantis at 4:00, or the Ship at 4:30, etc. The same works aboard ship. We'll see you at lunch at 11:30, but if we miss you there, we'll see you by the pool at 2:00 or at cocktails at 5:30 at the wine bar, etc.
Peacemkr59 Posted October 24, 2014 #36 Share Posted October 24, 2014 Klfhngr, OMG, I'm so sorry this happened to you. We, too, lost part of our group in Nassau. However, we came back on board and asked them to check to see if they had boarded already. They had already checked in, so we knew they were on board!! Did you finally get reunited with your family in Jamaica??

travelplus Posted October 24, 2014 #43 Share Posted October 24, 2014 (edited) I'm surprised they couldn't run you out on the pilot boat? Yes they could have or have the ship re-dock. But do you want to know the real reason they don't. The reason is like on an airplane if it has to return to a gate on an international flight Customs has to reclear the flight to dock at the gate. If its a mechanical issue and an overnight is required the Customs and Border Patrol has to cancel the exit stamp all the visitors visas and clear them through customs. The same is on a ship. The ship had been cleared for x amount of time as soon as it leaves the dock its considered to be cleared from the country. If a passenger were to board via a pilot boat Customs would have to clear this as well as check the Sea Pass Card. The customer would have to go through security onboard the ship. All this while the ship may be asked to stop while customs verifies the information. For all international flights/cruises once your x miles from land you are considered to be in International territory. And yet there are numerous YouTube videos of pax being ferried out to ships on pilot or other harbor craft. Go figure ;) Sent from my iPhone using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app
