Live from Explorer's 14 Night Repositioning S. Caribbean cruise to Port Canaveral

Recommended Posts

I have a crazy question for those of you on the Explorer. Is your table near #432? I found out today that is where we are assigned. I would LOVE to know if it is in a good location. i've asked for a round table for 4. We are on the next sailing.

Thanks:D

Table #s and their locations are subject to change. If someone answered, it might not be there when you cruise.

1. There's no such thing as a bad table. (IMO, of course ;))

2. They move the numbers around! (some people don't realize this)

I learned that on my first Jewel cruise, that's why I stopped trying to find my table when I first get on the ship. In the case of that Jewel cruise the Head waiter told me that they have 4 more people in wheel chairs on our cruise than the one before so they rearrange tables so the wheel chairs could get to them. The table I found at 11am was a 6 person table and we ended up at a table for 8 halfway across the main dining room.

It could be any number of things. Maybe Quantum's new charging scheme for Johnny Rocket's has shown up on Explorer. It could also be the Quantum room service egg charge too.

Hey, how about no more oreo ice cream sundaes on JR's menu on the Quantum.......what's that all about? It was my favorite thing there!!! Ate that burger fast so I could have that sundae! LOL Now it's just apple pie and ice cream but it's extra $$$ for the dip of ice cream.

Congratulations to you, Carol, on your new status. Question for you. Recently, at the D+ level, and could book a solo at 150%, did RCI give you the double points for a solo? Not there yet, but hope to be some day:). Again, congratulations. Katherine

Gosh, I should not even type this for two reasons:

1. The internet has gotten so bad that I have not been able to LOG ON in almost 24 hours. This took me over an hour. I am afraid that by responding to just Katherine's post, it will be my last!

2. I don't want to jinx myself!

There have been posts from other people who have had difficulty getting the correct number of solo points for any number of "fake" reasons (fake reasons from RC).

I have not encountered this problem. All of my cruise points were posted correctly and promptly in the past year and a half, since I started using that perk. (cap of 150% solo fare)

There were even two staff guys up here a little while ago. One is the (I think) 2nd in command IT guy.

After everyone bombarded him with requests for help and "feedback" on using the internet, they beat a hasty retreat!

Ok, so I am sort of online.

I can't access pictures, which is really ticking me off.

Let's see how much I can post before the system gives me the finger again.

YESTERDAY: St. Maarten.

I have been here more times than I can remember/count. Including the week/voyage right before this.

But it's a day for good exercise.

Ruth and I walked into town. Expended vast quantities of energy, between the actual walking and the heat. We are so good!

We took a long walk down the boardwalk/beach side first, coming back through town, just to mix it up from the last time.

Again, Ruth is a vegan. She is always on the lookout for treats that she can eat. We stopped at a little gelateria storefront, and their offerings were FABULOUS, and Ruth was able to eat several of the flavors. She settled on "bananaberry", which we shared.

But we sampled a lot first:

(cross your fingers; I think that I have photo-capability back)

As we walked along, we chatted. That's what we do. I was telling Ruth a story about being in St. Thomas at the beach, and my kids saw some friends from home - off a different ship!

I feel a tickle on the back of my neck. I turn around. There are my cruising friends, Debbie and Paul, who are on the Celebrity ship parked next to the Explorer! :D

Here are some random pretty pictures of the beach at Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, some including the five ships that were in port:

As we did last time, our final stop before returning to the ship was at the Dutch Cheese Shop so that Ruth could buy Droste dark chocolate pastilles.

This time, they had a friend out front:

The foreground may be industrial, but I got four of the five ships in the shot. The best part is that the Explorer is the "little baby" of the group. (at least by perspective here)

I call this shot, "Beauty and the Beast."

That is the Oasis on the left and the Norwegian Epic on the right.

I think something didn't go right:eek:.

When do you go on Legend, Carol?

December 15.

Is the internet locked/frozen again? Or, is your nemisis in the dining room?

We are here for you.:)

Frozen, as stated. ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We almost ran into him - LITERALLY - in the Windjammer this afternoon.

I did a speedy 180, almost running into some poor lady.

Someone from the dining room called today and asked to discuss the situation with him. I'm making an appointment to talk to him ASAP.

There is a lovely, interesting older couple on board, who are ALWAYS "dressed to the nines". Even in the Windjammer.

You can't see his matching orange shoes.

The matching couple were on the Explorer back in January 2011. They are a hoot!!! I hope I have half the amount of energy they have when I reach their age.
