dplusd Posted November 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Their pricing has gone crazy with all of their so called promotions. For a 12/6 cruise, check prices through the year. I would be surprised if there is not deep discounting for this date at some point.
Vitamin_Sea Posted November 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Oh you got time .. keep an eye on it as there will be tons of new promos/ sales on the way  the weird sales add huge OBC.. So either way- they get ya money Edited November 4, 2014 by limoguy1
Desert Cruizers Posted November 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2014 When I know we will be cruising a given year, I watch for the dates to open and have our cabin selected so am ready to go. I have always booked our cruises that way then continually check for price drops. Only once have we had a price drop below our early booking price, most of the time the prices go continually up or if they have dropped, they never drop to the early booking price. jules815 Posted November 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Exactly. Its a joke and many newbies will fall for it. Thats what they are banking on. Agree. My husband and I did get a great deal on a Next Cruise promotion that we booked on board FOS in September though. We were able to get the BOGOHO promo, plus some pretty nice obc. I know booking on board is a different deal altogether though.

Tripin' Posted November 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Booked 2 cruises a few months ago for 2015 for the Mediterranean. One a JS the other a GS both are double now. Saved about $12,000. There hasn't been a good sale since!
njmomof2 Posted November 4, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 4, 2014 In reality it did not go up.... Just ask to see the OBC thats given hehe use it or lose it Sometimes the OBC doesn't even come close to the price increase. Booked my sister and BIL on Vision 7/3/15 12 night med cruise in early May. BOGOHO sale at $1589/pp before taxes, Cat G OV. Now, that same exact category is $3489/pp. And the OBC is only $300/pp, so the net price is $3189/pp. The difference is a about double the price she booked. They changed the pricing to higher but threw in HIGHER OBC.. so in the end, it was the same. Edited November 4, 2014 by limoguy1
rummenroman Posted November 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted November 4, 2014 I wonder if they looked at JCPenney's. Took away the deep discounts and offered straight pricing and everyone ran for the hills (I actually preferred it). Now they are offering the insane discounts/coupons/door-busters and people are slowly trickling back.
ryano Posted November 4, 2014 #16 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Sometimes the OBC doesn't even come close to the price increase. . I have yet to find a cruise where the OBC comes close to the price increase. Most cases Ive found the price is increased 100% or more and they offer back about 40% - 50% of that increase in OBC. They either think people are stupid or they are preying on the noob that has no idea.
Rare orville99 Posted November 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted November 4, 2014 The problem with this OBC offer is there's only one way to redeem it - spend it - in the shops, at the bars, or for excursions. Based on the fine print, it has no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash (i.e. casino), and expires the last night. So while the $$ value may sound good, unless you use it, you lose it.:(

Ashland Posted November 4, 2014 #19 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Am I the only one that has little to no use for a large amount of OBC ?...Sometimes it's hard to find something to spend my $100.00 per cabin on. Also agree with many of the above...the prices on all my future booked cruises has risen beyond belief..glad I booked before the sales ;)

Also agree with many of the above...the prices on all my future booked cruises has risen beyond belief..glad I booked before the sales ;) We would not have a problem spending $100 OBC. However, unless we could get 95% of the OBC via the casino cash method, $500 OBC would probably be too much for us.
ryano Posted November 4, 2014 #22 Share Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Am I the only one that has little to no use for a large amount of OBC ?.. No. Depending on how large the OBC amount, after gratuities were taken out, I would probably stupidly spend on a drink package I know i wouldn't come close to getting the monies worth out of. Im not into trinkets, souvenirs, jewelry etc. I had 550.00 OBC on my last cruise, drank all I wanted to drink, bought a couple bottles of liquor and still cashed out with a little over 100.00 cash the last night. I find it pretty tough to spend lots of money onboard a cruise ship. Edited November 4, 2014 by ryano

Other than tips we don't use the spa and we do not do shore excursions.
